My Tabletop Christmas Tree

I have my tabletop Christmas tree decorated. As I have in years past, I tucked in white tulle around the bottom of the tree to resemble snow.

In My Tabletop Christmas Tree 2022, I finally got all the ornaments on.

Tying Ornaments On With Ribbon:

I’ve been tying ornaments on with ribbon or jute for years now. I began doing that long ago, so the pets couldn’t take them off.

Yesterday, as I struggled to tie the ribbon to the ornaments, I felt like screaming. My fingers were reluctant to bend and work the ribbon through the ornaments to tie them on. Arthritis is just a joy for us older folks. Not!

I had ordered those pretty swirly ornament hangers and used most of them to hang the ornaments. But the ornaments fell off those hangers pretty easily. Nearly every time I tried to tie the last ornaments on with ribbons, the ones hung with hangers would fall off.

I loved the look of those pretty ornament hangers when I saw them on Amazon, so I ordered them. But I can see that they don’t work too well. Ivy could swipe at them one time, and the ornament would be on the floor.

When did my body get so stiff and my fingers so clumsy? I suppose it’s been happening slowly over the years.

Christmas decorating for me has occurred in fits and starts this year. I’m not nearly as energetic as I used to be. Actually, my mind is enthusiastic, but my body isn’t as lively, to be more specific.

The Addition Of Red Berry Picks:

I do believe the reader who suggested I add red berry picks to the tree was correct. It looks better with the addition of the red berry picks. When she made that comment, I ordered them right away from Amazon. I’ve poked them here and there on the tree.

I also found the red bird ornaments in my Christmas decor stash. But there are only a couple of them. I wish I could find more of those pretty bird ornaments.

The red picks keep falling off, too. So I may have to tie them on with ribbon or jute.

In My Tabletop Christmas Tree 2022, here are the two reindeer I ordered from Amazon

The Glow Of The Tree Lights:

But oh, I love the glow of the Christmas tree lights. I turn them on first thing in the morning and unplug them when I go to bed. There’s just nothing like a tree all lit up at Christmastime to make your home feel cozy.

I’m glad I ordered the two reindeer. They look so snazzy in their Christmas finery, and the texture is so pretty.

And Ivy has so far shown no interest whatsoever in the Christmas decorating. She’s only interested in the ribbon. I’d drop some to the floor while I was working with the ornaments. And Ivy would pick it up in one paw and jump up in the air with it.

I have no idea what that’s about. She’s truly my funny-bunny.

I think that your trees look beautiful. I love the way that Boomer came over to visit you and Ivy, say Hi!, and Bye and was on his way. Maybe he is planning his Christmas route.

  3. I think both of your Christmas trees are gorgeous, Brenda. I have usually been a more is better type of gal, so if you want to put more red birds on the larger tree, I say go for it. You can probably find some red feathered cardinal clip-on ornaments at Amazon, I bought some cardinal ornaments there years ago without the clips and ever since (at least 5 years) I just snuggle them into a small tree I put up on the peninsula that separates my kitchen from my dining area that is open to my living room. If you want to add more “pizzazz” to your trees, perhaps simply typing ribbons near the tips of bare branches rather than adding more ornaments would give you the volume and va-va-voom you’re thinking of. I think they’re beautiful as they are. Boomer is so cute, and how sweet he paid you a visit. Animals have extremely keen instincts when it comes to humans and they know whom they can trust to be their friends. Dogs, being perhaps the oldest domesticated animals closely associated with human beings, at least 15,000 years ago, know us better than any other animal on the planet. They can “read” us, even if we can’t always “read” them. Dogs are the most amazing animals on the planet as far as I’m concerned. As for human hands – ache! I’ve been recently experiencing some aches and pain in both of my hands when trying to do something as simple as wringing out a wash cloth. Not sure, it may be a tendon thing, especially on my left hand, which is my dominant hand as a lefty. But I’m not going to let that stop me from doing what I want to do, it may just take a little bit longer to get it done than it used to. Such is life and aging, but you don’t let it stop you! Tomorrow I’m dragging the tree (in 3 separate parts) up from the basement to be erected in front of my large picture window in the front room. I’ll eat an extra egg for breakfast for strength, LOL.

  4. Very Pretty…I knew the deer would be beautiful in your home๐ŸŽ„โ„๐Ÿ’•

  5. Your trees are beautiful! Years ago when I had more and younger fur babies Iโ€™d hang jingle bell ornaments around the bottom of the tree and Iโ€™d know if anyone was getting a little to nosy.

  6. The tree looks beautiful to me as is. The red really made a difference! I hope Ivy continues to not be interested in the Christmas decorations!

  7. I think your trees look beautiful just perfect

  8. “Actually my mind is enthusiastic but my body isnโ€™t as energetic, to be more specific” I love this quote from you and yes I can def relate! And I love your trees! I think the red is in good proportion and the birds are so lovely – I also love that the tree is loaded w ornaments! Maybe a little topper to finish it off – a small star or a shapely ornament turned upside down and w the hanger removed – I have done that w my mom’s table top tree:) Ivy and Boomer: animals understand each other and can also sense when they are in danger – obviously no danger here, thought Ivy!

  9. Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ decorating looks great Brenda!
    I love โค๏ธ the trees!
Can’t tell if lights need to be adjusted.
The red berries and little birds are lovely and colorful.
Nothing seems to be off in my eyes.
    Boomer’s ๐Ÿถ visit was great!
So love a pooch to stop by!!!
I consider that to be a neighborly compliment!! ๐Ÿ˜Œ
Our trees are not up yet.
    Maybe this weekend.
    P. S. How is your back Brenda?

  10. Love the Boomer story. He obviously felt safe coming into your place. How sweet. You have wonderful neighbors!!! With John working from home, I am thinking what a nice guy he must be to want his space looking festive. Good hearted for sure.
Your trees look nice and donโ€™t fuss too much as the first Christmas wasnโ€™t perfect by any means. What matters is the glow of nights to reflect on the season. I have one white table top tree I leave up for seasonal decoratingโ€ฆ.hearts from Current go on it after Christmas. I wonder if that place is still in business as I have some oldies but goodies from them.
My hands and fingers fumble so much more now that I have aged but I wonโ€™t let it stop me from sewing and having fun in my home decorating bit by bit. Just takes me longer and occasional cuss words.

  11. Your trees are lovely. I really like the stags and wish I had some like them.
Do you think a few bulbs could be removed from the bigger tree? I like the shape and size of that tree!

  12. The bigger tree is prettier to me ask though both are nice. Do you think there are too many bulbs in the bottom of the bigger tree?

  13. Brenda, your decorations are s pretty! I love them. I’ll bet the glow is beautiful. My tree has colored lights, and they make me happy to stare at. Will we get to see John’s decorations too? Boomer is so cute coming to visit you. And Ivy was being very polite, lol.

  14. Such a lovely tree!

  15. If u like your tree, than thatโ€™s all that matters Brenda! I will suggest maybe find a topper for the tree or some ribbon. Maybe a pretty bow wouldnโ€™t be a good idea bc of Ivy. She might try to climb the tree to get it! That would be terrible! An angel or star orโ€ฆ
Anyway as long as u enjoy your tree is all the counts!

  16. Your trees are beautiful, Brenda! I love the red sprigs and few more would be nice but even if you didn’t add more, it still looks wonderful. I, too love the glow of a lit Christmas tree. I have a couple of acquaintances who leave their tree up year-round and decorate it for different holidays and seasons. Why? Because they love the glow of the lights!
Boomer came to visit! That’s so cool.
    Enjoy your day!

I absolutely love the stags! Nice to see Boomer and I too was surprised that Ivy didn’t react to him.

  18. Your tree is very pretty! I don’t know why, but I’m surprised that the dog being in the house didn’t upset Ivy. I think it’s great she tolerated that event.

    1. Well, remember she also lived with Charlie till he passed.
