What I Bought At Hobby Lobby Today

I drove to Hobby Lobby this morning and thought I’d show you a pitcher I purchased. Where I used to live in the apartment, I was only about a mile away. Now, it’s more like 5 miles to Hobby Lobby, so I don’t go there much. It’s been months since I shopped there.

I came home with a few items. First, there’s this cute pitcher decorated with colorful flowers. I saw it in their spring section for 40% off. It’s so cold and dreary that I just wanted something with flowers.

So here it is with roses I already had in another pitcher.

Yearning For Spring Flowers:

I’m looking ahead to spring, so I ordered faux white tulips from Amazon yesterday. I love tulips! I guess I’ll need to plant some tulip bulbs when it’s time.

The pitcher with the roses in the middle of my dining room table makes me smile when I walk past it. So far, the kittens have not bothered anything on the table.

I bought a few paintings because they were half off. The woman at Hobby Lobby who checked me out said about the paintings: “Oh, I want to redo my living room. But my husband doesn’t want me to.”

I told her I like to lean paintings on surfaces against walls, etc. She said she hadn’t thought of that. This way, there are no holes to fill, and you can switch wall decor as often as you want. The woman seemed to like that decorating tip.

Do you ever purchase things at Hobby Lobby that aren’t half off or 40% in the spring section, or whatever the season is? Those sales are so tempting, and I don’t even go into the store unless I plan to shop the half-price sale items.

What I Bought At Hobby Lobby Today was a few paintings and decor that was half off.

I realized I hadn’t taken photos of anything for Valentine’s Day, so I arranged this red heart banner on the dining table.

Kendra Was Also In Hobby Lobby:

Kendra surprised me in Hobby Lobby.

I heard someone say, “Hi, Mom.”

She saw my car in the parking lot when she brought candles back for a refund, so she walked up and down the aisles until she found me.

We looked at drawer pulls but couldn’t find any we liked. I still, obviously, have not switched out the kitchen knobs and drawer pulls. But the problem is that two corner drawers knock hit one another when one or the other is pulled out, so it’s hard to find knobs that will work.

We’ll probably end up ordering them. But I haven’t seen any I particularly like that I feel will work due to this problem, so I’ll probably let her order them. I’m better at decorating than design, and drawer pulls with problematic drawers fall more into her wheelhouse.

Kendra didn’t notice when she had the cabinets put in years ago that the drawers in the corner connected and hit one another. Remember, this was her first flip house.

Potential Free Food:

She told me that she’s making taco soup and two quiches tomorrow. One quiche will be for me; she’ll bring it by once she’s made it. I sure am loving this free food I don’t have to cook!

Still Months Until Spring:

It’s too early for spring plants. So, if you yearn for colorful blooms like me, consider ordering or purchasing faux flowers until springtime. I have a post about faux flowers that I think looks most realistic, and you’ll be reading that soon.

Ivy is at the top of the cat tower, and the kittens are running up and down from one end of the house to the other. This is what they mainly do when they’re not eating or sleeping.

Simon is chirping away.

I’ve never heard a cat do that before. He strings the chirping sounds together, and they sound like he’s putting together whole sentences in chirp-speak.

There’s nothing quite like the sound of energetic kittens running up and down through your house. It is music to my ears.

  1. Oh I love that pitcher!!!!!!!!!

  2. Beautiful pitcher with the flowers. Just wondering when you go out do you lock the kittens up. I have two big cats just got a Maine coon kitten and I’m nervous to leave him out with the big cats
He is eight weeks old. Thank you

  3. About 20 years ago we remodeled our kitchen. I couldn’t decide on hardware for the cabinetry so I had grooves in the drawers and doors to easily open them and said when I found what I want we’d get them. What I’ve found is that I love cleaning the doors and drawers without having to maneuver around the hardware lol. Also, I’ve never purchased anything from hobby lobby at full price.

    1. That’s a good idea about your cabinets. Doubt that will work here since the doors and drawers already exist.

      1. Brenda, I’ve always thought an inset pull would be the only thing that would work in that corner. I don’t think you’ll ever find a knob that will work. It would just be a matter of cutting an inset hole in the front of the drawer. You don’t have many drawers so it shouldn’t be a large project. You could just leave the pulls on the doors as they are. Love your new pitcher!

I like your hobby lobby purchase. Do you google map. I started google mapping a few years ago it’s interesting and fun to see peoples’ photos of purchases, food photos.

    1. I don’t understand what you mean.

  5. That is a beautiful pitcher! I have a Hobby Lobby close to me. I just might have to go check out their sales. They always have good sales. Did you do a post on your house, back when Kendra first flipped it? I know you’ve shown us a couple of her houses she’s flipped, and I remember you talking about the dancing pole. Can you link those so we can see them again, please? It’s too bad you can’t as a clip of Simon chirping. I would love to hear that, lol! He sounds adorable!!

    1. She flipped this house 10 years ago and I don’t think she has photos of it from back then.

My Grandmother told me when a cat chirps they are trying to charm birds. We once had a cat that chirped as he sat window side watching birds at our feeders. Kind of
    intriguing one thinks.

  7. Your kitten’s antics remind me of the zoomies my kittens used to have. I’ve noticed that the main difference between dog and cat zoomies, is that cats can go across furniture, counters, and sometimes up walls. One Saturday when I was still in bed, my cats started chasing each other through my house. At one point the chase crossed the head of my bed, and I caught a claw in the corner of my left eye. I was not happy, and I let my unruly babies know that.

    1. They can leap a pretty far distance from one piece of furniture to the next.

  8. I spend a lot of time on You Tube and the other day I happened to see a video about a “chirping cat” but I didn’t take the time to watch it. So maybe the chirping is something, perhaps, that a certain species of cats do to communicate rather than or maybe including the “meows” we’re used to hearing. Right now at my local large chain supermarket there are all kinds of spring flowers in pots for sale. Of course they cleverly put the floral department right where the doors are and you stop to get your cart, and then you can’t help but go past them to get into the heart of the store to do your shopping because of how it is arranged. Oh my gosh, they are SO beautiful, and SO tempting to buy. And of course they know that 90% or more of the shoppers are women, LOL! But close to holidays, especially the day before and even the morning of, that area of the store is packed with men desperately buying up any and all flowers they see at the last minute for holidays – it’s so funny to see!

    1. I don’t shop for groceries. I have Walmart do that. But it sounds intriguing!

  9. I love the flowers and the bright pretty pitcher. Thanks for the idea, I have some pretty faux flowers I can decorate with. Your kittens are so entertaining and it is so nice Ivy is doing alright with them. We have four cats so they keep us entertained as well. One of them just jumped up on the couch and curled up beside me. Enjoy the food your daughter is bringing, so nice of her. I used to take my mother lots of food and desserts and she always appreciated it too and I loved doing it.

    1. Simon likes to be close to me. Daisy is pretty independent.

Love your new pitcher Brenda! It will be beautiful with tulips or any other flowers that you put into it.
How wonderful for you to have homemade quiche from your daughter!
Have a great week, enjoy your sweet kitties.

    1. I can probably stretch that quiche out the rest of the week once she brings it.

  11. What a pretty pitcher, Brenda. I still have Christmas decor to put away as I’ve been not well the last few weeks. Doing a little better yesterday and today since doctor took me off one of the heart meds he had me on. Hopefully, I will feel like getting some organizing and decorating done before my surgery for knee replacement. Honestly, I am not looking forward to that but people who have it done say it is totally worth it. I guess I will see. Reading about your kittens makes me think more about getting a pet. After living with five other people for seven years I tho’t I would be ready to live alone again. But, oddly, I feel quite lonely some of the time. It just goes to show you don’t always know what your wishes coming true will really feel like ’til afterward!

    1. I don’t think I could live with another person, but I love living with pets.

  12. A few observations:

    1. Less is more.
    2. When in doubt, buy real.
    3. Nothing beats an original piece of art. They are not necessarily expensive and have real value.
    4. Feed your loved ones the best food you can muster. Food is love.

  13. Love the pitcher with flowers!

  14. When you talked about the tulips , I thought of my Mom right away . She always bought me red tulips .

I haven’t seen my outside cat , since the last cold snap the last week of January. It sure strange not to see her . I wish over the years she would have come in to live . I had the sweetest note on my door today from my new neighbor telling me what outside feral cats she saw today .

  15. Brenda, The pitcher you chose is so pretty and the roses are perfect in it. I’ve been yearning for spring as well. I went to Hobby Lobby here where I live specifically to buy tulips. I found what I wanted in red, white and pink and they look so refreshing and pretty in my salt glaze. I painted our extra bedroom in pale yellow a few years ago and I always keep some flowers in there. The other day my granddaughter said she felt like it was spring when she went in there!
