Your Honor Series With Bryan Cranston

Have you watched the Your Honor series with Bryan Cranston on Netflix? It became a hit series in the summer of 2024, and viewers began clamoring for a Season 3, which is not yet off the table.

Seasons 1 and 2 aired on Showtime from 2020 to 2022 and became available to stream for Showtime subscribers on Paramount+. The drama became available on Netflix in late May 2024.

“Your Honor,” which was initially a Showtime drama series, follows the life of Judge Michael Desiato and his son, Adam.

Adam is driving his car when he starts having an asthma attack. His inhaler has fallen onto the floor. When he looks away to reach for it, the vehicle collides with a motorcycle driven by another teenage boy.

Adam Desiato gets out of his car and walks over to the boy lying on the concrete. He doesn’t know what to do. Adam calls 911, but then hangs up.

The boy on the motorcycle, Rocco Baxter, dies. Adam is flustered and terrified and doesn’t know what to do. He drives home and attempts to wash his bloody clothing.

Judge Michael Desiato (Bryan Cranston), upon finding out what happened, drives his son to the police station so Adam can turn himself in. But when Judge Desiato glimpses the bereaved parents and sees who they are, he immediately changes course.

He recognizes the dead boy’s father as Jimmy Baxter, the head of a New Orleans crime family.

In Your Honor, The Dead Boy’s Father Is A Crime Boss:

What quickly ran through his mind were the possible implications of Adam having killed a mobster’s son.

It had just been a year since someone murdered Michael’s wife and Adam’s mother, Robin. And they still don’t know who murdered her. Judge Desiato knows that Adam is still reeling from the shock of losing his mother.

Judge Desiato quickly goes back to the car and tells Adam to keep quiet. He says he will figure out what to do, and Adam is to go along with the story.

The judge arranges for the car to be “stolen” the next day, which then implicates his best friend, who is running for mayor of New Orleans. Getting rid of the car sets off another chain of deception and more loss of life.

Morally, as a judge in Your Honor, Desiato knows what he should do, but he is also a parent. His role as a parent wins, and he decides to try to save his boy. He is Adam’s only remaining parent, and he doesn’t want his son to go to prison or possibly be killed by Rocco Baxter’s father.

The judge in the Your Honor series becomes mired in more and more lies as he tries to keep Adam’s identity from being discovered. His only objective is to keep Adam from going to prison. Not to mention possibly being killed by the crime family.

The Crime Boss, Jimmy Baxter:

Jimmy Baxter (Michael Stuhlbarg) already has one son in prison, and now his other son is dead. Baxter wants to know who hit his son and callously drove away, and he will stop at nothing to find out.

Things escalate when a black man takes the rap for driving the “stolen” car that hit Rocco Baxter. The consensus is that Kofi Jones stole the vehicle, which then struck and killed the boy on the motorcycle.

The Baxters’ older son, Carlo, is let out of prison to attend his younger brother’s burial service. At the cemetery, his mother, Gina Baxter (Hope Davis), instructs Carlo to kill Kofi Jones when he gets back to prison.

Then Jimmy Baxter finds out that Desiato owned the car that hit and killed his son. The judge tells Jimmy that he was the one driving the vehicle to protect Adam. The lies pile up until Judge Desiato finds himself drawn into the depths of the organized crime world. And then he is forced to do Jimmy Baxter’s bidding.

A Romance Evolves Between Adam & Rocco Baxter’s Sister:

To further complicate things, Adam begins to go off the rails. He becomes impulsive and takes a lot of risks. He meets Rocco Baxter’s sister, Fia, and a romance develops between them.

Both seasons of “Your Honor” are on Netflix. Bryan Cranston also produced the 20 episodes of this series.

Whether there will be a third season is still being debated. Cranston told Deadline in April 2023 that it’s not entirely out of the question.
