If you don’t have easy access to an outdoor water hose, this is the easiest way I’ve found to water patio plants.

This is my patio right outside my patio doors. And what you see above is the solution I came up with last year.

You can put water in a watering can at the sink and fill it over and over again. Or you can do what I do and just fill this sprayer up one time.

That’s if you don’t have a huge amount of container plants of course.

Most people would probably look at this sprayer and think of pest control. But insecticide will never go in my sprayer.

I don’t use insecticides because I worry about the wildlife. Instead I use natural forms of pest control via plants.

For instance, I sprinkle cinnamon powder on my window sills to deter ants during the springtime months.

Of course Ivy likes to look out the window, and thus often walks around with cinnamon spots on her body. But hey, that isn’t going to hurt her. She just smells like Christmastime!

Above you get an idea of how many container plants I have to water on or near my patio. I’d say there’s close to a dozen plants. Most are in very large pots or galvanized tubs.

A Battery-Powered Water Sprayer:

This SideKing Battery-powered Sprayer makes watering container plants so much easier. I charge it, fill it with water at the kitchen sink, and head out to my patio.

Through trial and error, I’ve learned to use a funnel to pour water down the water hole. I usually add one packet of fertilizer so I can fertilizer all my plants at the same time.

Though I rarely ever fertilized my plants until I found this one packet option with Miracle Grow this year.

This Sprayer Is A Lifesaver:

This sprayer has been a lifesaver in terms of both my ankle, my back, and arthritis in my hands.

It holds 1.35 gallons of water. I store it inside by the patio door and just pick it up on my way outside.

I tend to set the sprayer down near a group of plants and just move the wand around.

This electric garden sprayer has USB rechargeable ports on the handle. There are 3 mist nozzles, a telescopic wand, and a shoulder strap. At the very top is a slot to push the wand into for convenience.

I didn’t think much about my solution from last year until I was outdoors watering my plants a little while ago. A woman came by while walking her dog and commented on my use of the sprayer. She asked me where I got it, and I told her.

Then I thought, maybe someone didn’t see my post last May when I purchased it. So I decided to post the information again and the links in case anyone wants to order it.

I’m sure you could use it indoors if you needed to spray water on shower tiles. Or when you need to rinse shampoo off of a dog after a bath, etc. Of course you could also water indoor house plants with this sprayer.

Easiest Way To Water Patio Plants:

This lawn sprayer has a built-in lithium battery that can be charged. It has USB rechargeable ports on the handle, which is where you charge it.

Though I’ve never had to use it for very long, the company says it has a runtime of 2-3 hours. The charging indicator turns blue when fully charged.

The retractable wand attached to the can extends to 23.6 inches to help you spray hard-to-reach places.

There are versatile spraying options. This sprayer comes with three nozzles. There is a sector/fan nozzle, an adjustable brass nozzle, and an adjustable six-hole nozzle.

With five different spraying patterns, you can easily switch between mist and water jet modes to water delicate plants.

The self-priming water pump allows you to control the spray on/off with just one button. So it frees up your fingers and makes watering your patio plants an easier task.

Miracle Grow Individual Fertilizing Packets:

I use these Miracle Grow individual packets of fertilizer. You can find them here. I’ve learned, after spilling fertilizer in the kitchen, to also use a funnel for this step.

I use the funnel to add the water so it doesn’t spill out. And then I open one of the fertilizer packets and pour it down the funnel as well.

At first, I used a watering can to fertilize the plants. Then I thought: Why am I doing this? I can just put it right in the water sprayer and kill two birds with one stone.

The woman walking her dog said she was going straight home and looking up this water sprayer for her patio garden. She said she’s been carrying watering can after watering can of water outside in order to water her plants.

She said this solution would sure make her life easier. I know it makes my life easier.

    1. I got tired of lugging watering can after watering can of water out there. I let Lynn take care of her garden out by the sidewalk.

  4. Brenda;
Your flowers and plantings are so pretty. I am in Kentucky and it is so hot I am afraid everything will die.
