Flower Bouquets + Walmart Clearance Finds

I sit in my little blue house and look around me. There’s no other place I’d rather be than this humble house that is my home.

In my living room, the overhead fan whispers in the air. Daisy is looking out the window, searching for the birds that fly to the porch to steal the cat food.

I took the book covers off the books on the bookshelves for no other reason than to see the spines. To sit here in my comfy chair and look at white bookshelves the girls got me for my last birthday.

Though I love this room, as it is where I spend the most time, I guess it takes second place in my mind.

My Kitchen:

Probably my favorite room is the kitchen, what they call the heart of a home. It is brightly colored in detail with red, yellow-gold, and green. Gray and white striped curtains grace the tall window.

A small lamp sits on the yellow-and-white checked oilcloth, glowing softly. I eat all my meals there, sitting in one of the two green chairs contemplating life.

My white granite countertop, which I keep exceedingly clean, is shiny and perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a prettier countertop. That marble look is just not me.

I like the look of plain white, which reminds me of cleanliness and a grandma’s kitchen. Which I am, and thus, where I sit.

The Container Garden:

My garden out front looks a bit sad. But the zinnias still bend and sway in the breeze, the pretty multi-layered petals that so look like velvet.

Even with some of the plants having turned brown, I still like to stand on the porch and gaze at them. Because it is my creation, and I add to it every spring.

Simon is now sitting on one arm of my chair, playing with the ribbon on my small password book.

Inside the little book is difficult to read because I’ve had to change the passwords many times for various websites. I should have used a pencil!

I went outside yesterday afternoon and cut flowers to bring inside. The man across the street, one house to the north, yelled out a greeting to me. He and a woman live there; I’m assuming she’s his wife.

Every time he sees me, he makes a point of saying hello. I don’t know his name. I’ll have to ask him some day.

I gathered my flowers and went inside to find jars. The kittens were very interested in all this. Anything you bring inside that is different, they are all over it.

It’s now been a little while since I’ve gone back into the kitchen after I arranged the bouquets. Simon and Daisy have probably been up on the counter inspecting the plants by now.

Walmart Finds:

I haven’t gone out to the thrift stores in some time. That was something I did with Rhonda, and she’s been playing nurse to her mother the past few months.

But recently I’ve been scouring the Walmart site for their Clearance items, and I’ve found some real treasures!

Tomato products seem to be popular right now. I wrote a post about tomatocore recently, if you recall.

This melamine tray is 10.1 x 15.6 inches. And I paid $2.48 for it! Once it arrived, I loved it so much I went back online and purchased more. I think I bought all they had left, which looked to be just a few. They’ll be good little food trays.

I bought 1 of the trays that had olive tree leaves. Last I looked, they still had this particular tray. Same price, $2.48.

I love the size of this tray. And maybe the best part is that I can’t break it! Recently, I broke 2 red and white mugs. And it kind of broke my heart a little.

Framed Hydrangea Painting:

Recently, I purchased this framed hydrangea painting from Walmart. It is 11 x 14 in size.

Isn’t it pretty? I love hydrangeas. It shows that it costs $8.18 now, but I may have paid $6. I don’t recall. They change the prices around.

I doubt I could have gotten these items at the thrift store for less money.

Remember I showed you this little corner of my bathroom with this small oval painting from Walmart?

Oval Landscape Painting:

I just located the oval landscape painting you see above at Walmart. So they still have it as of this writing. It is 11 x 14 and is currently $7.49.

You can hardly beat these prices, and I didn’t even have to get in the car and go out into the heat!

Look Closely at the Prices:

When you look at these items on the Walmart website, you might see something for $6 to $8, and on either side will be very similar paintings that cost $50-$100! It seems very random, so you just have to search slowly.

When you hover over the different scenes of the paintings, they’re oftentimes all different prices for the very same size!

It does take time to look through all these things, but isn’t that the thrill of the hunt?

I just came across this jar from the Drew Barrymore line at Walmart. If you like pink jars, you might want to check this out.

It is 4.3 x 6.69 inches in size, and the price as of this writing is $7.33. There is a smaller green jar that is $4.97.

Look very closely because some items must be from sellers other than Walmart, and they charge shipping fees. More than once I’ve put something like that in my cart, only to realize I’d have to pay shipping, so I removed it.

Kittens + Flower Bouquets Don’t Mix Well

I was right to think the kittens had gotten to my flower bouquets, as I just went into the kitchen, and the scissors I cut the flowers with were on the floor. I thought I heard something fall off the counter.

Simon and/or Daisy pulled some of the leaves off the flower stems. I’d bet it was Daisy, because Simon very rarely gets up there. And she’s a nosy little girl and checks out everything.

They seem to have left the citronella plant stems alone. I guess they didn’t like the scent of it.

It’s the weekend now. It will be quiet here, as usual. Except for the kittens running up and down the floor playing. In the morning it is usually Simon with all his pent up energy.

Rhonda says that cats are practicing their survival skills when she’s here and he does that. He jumps and makes all kinds of noises and runs from room to room. I love to watch him with his big green eyes that look so big in his black cat face.

For the weekend, I’ll water the plants and feed the outdoor cats, which I just did. Killvester was waiting for me on the porch. He’s not as afraid of me anymore and let’s me get within a few feet of him.

Other than these simple everyday things, I’ll stay inside where it’s cool on this late July day.
