More YouTube Channels To Check Out
I add more and more YouTube channels to my list to watch each week, it seems.
When my shoulders and arms and hands are buzzing from typing too much, I tend to watch videos. This gives them a rest.
I’m so thankful to be able to watch all these YouTubers. Some of them have subscriptions where you pay so much a month. But I don’t do that. I watch everything free.
Whether it be gardening, decorating, crafting, or thrifting, I have my favorites.
If you have other channels you want me to know about, write the channel down in the comments and I’ll check it out.
Linda Vater:
Linda Vater, who doesn’t at all look her 67 years, is witty and charming, and has so much knowledge about gardening. She has just recently moved to “The Cottage On The Hill” from “The Fairytale House.”
She is a consummate entertainer and does a bit of everything on her channel. She also has authored books on Amazon.
Her About Page says this: I try to show practical and stylish ways to design, plant, maintain…basically have FUN in the garden…sharing ways that gardening inspires every aspect of my life, my personal style, cooking and decorating…even the way I look at the world.

Dainty Diaries:
Catherine Carton is the face behind Dainty Diaries. She calls her channel: “my floral, painted, tea dress-wearing, creative corner of YouTube.”
She taught herself to garden and learned from her mistakes and now has a thriving backyard space.
She has a book that was published in 2022 called “Dainty Dress Diaries: 50 Beautiful Home-Crafting Projects to Awaken Your Creativity. When I went to Amazon to look at it, it was marked down from $29.99 to just over $6. And last I looked it was marked down to $5.80!
Thus I ordered one book for myself and one for my 15 year old granddaughter, Marley. Marley wants to grow a cutting garden. And of course I’m very encouraging about this potential project!
Catherine’s second book is coming out soon. It is “Heart & Home: Craft and DIY projects to bring love into your home and garden.”

When I read this blog this morning, Dainty Diaries was $5.80 on Amazon. When I started to order it this afternoon, it had gone back up to $17.77.
I like to watch Alexandra Gater, she typically does one room make-overs for renters and I like her esthetic a lot. There are several others I jump around and watch including Rebecca Robeson (she’s a more high end decorator), Mama from Scranton, My Take on Home and Garden (where the man in the family is a collector and the primary decorator of the household – he is a maximalist’s maximalist), DIY Danie, and DIY Huntress. The DIYers have talent! I never cease to be amazed by people who can make their own furniture and come up with such wonderful projects. Power tools frighten me!
I do sometimes watch Alexandra Gater. Will check out the others you mentioned.
We too watch a great many youtubers…grateful they are sharing their lives this way, which has given us much enjoyment and actually a sense of belonging. We watch The Cottage Fairy too…have found some in other countries to watch as well. Thus giving us a view of places we would never choose to go, even if we could. One lady (from Holland) we like to watch rides a motorcycle all over the world, and is in Africa right now. Here is a link to her:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEIs9nkveW9WmYtsOcJBwTg We watch a lot of youtubers who are building their own homes, etc. Something we did once when we were young. There is a young woman who has a horse ranch and gives lessons that we also enjoy.
I’ll check it out. Thanks!
by the way, I could send on links to more of our favs, some we have watched for years, if you want more…drop me an email. During these last 6 years, when life has made us more housebound, watching these has kept us thinking, interested and more optimistic than we might have been.
