New Chairs Added To The TV Room

Two new chairs have been added to the back, south-facing room I call the TV room.

I found two blue chairs I really liked for a very good price (under $350 for two chairs and all wood), so I ordered them. They arrived last week, and Kendra assembled them.

And I put the beige mid-century chair in the guest room.

I arranged milk glass vases on a tray (Kasi got them down from the top of the kitchen cabinets for me). We went to lunch on Saturday, and then she did some tasks for me around here. Then, I added sprigs of greenery to the vases.

(Obviously, I can’t leave this little flower vignette here, as the kittens have already pounced on it once. I’ll have to put it up high somewhere.)

Adding Shelf Liner To A Wood Tray:

It’s a little hard to see here, but I added some of The Pioneer Woman’s shelf liner from Walmart to the bottom of the tray. That gave it a little color and sparkle, I thought.

I wanted to break up all the blue in this room with some additional colors, if only in a limited fashion.

I’ve had this shelf liner since before I moved here when I lived in the apartment. Finally, I am using it in a small way!

Do you like The Pioneer Woman’s colorful products at Walmart? There is a wide range of things they sell under her company name.

New chairs were added to the sitting room/TV room.
The two chairs I first put in this room.

I already had these pillow covers and inserts, so I added them to the denim blue chairs already in here.

Four chairs are across from the other two, providing a good conversation area for four people.

A Sitting Area & TV Room:

A view of the inner wall with two blue chairs, and a table with a blue and whit lamp.

I didn’t want a TV in my living room, which caused a little controversy with my family. I have a TV in my bedroom, and that’s where I watch TV.

I’ve enjoyed movies in there most every afternoon while I elevate and ice my knee. This also gives the nerve pain in my hands a chance to calm down.

Oh, what fun aging is, right?

Simon on the new chair in the TV room.

Simon had to come to see what I was doing, if you can see him against the dark blue chair upholstery.

I have blackout curtains for this room that Greg will put up for me. They are gray to match the walls.

I love all the natural light. But Kendra told me before I rented this house from her that it gets hot in here, with two south-facing walls of windows, even with air conditioning.

I decided on gray because this is a small room with half the space and five windows. And I thought gray curtains with gray walls wouldn’t make the room feel any smaller than it actually is.

Ivy:

Ivy perched on the second cat tree I recently purchased.

This is a photo of Ivy this morning. Now she is napping on my bed.

Simon is running from room to room like he’s possessed. Maybe he senses the “ghost lady with the strong perfume” I smell whenever I sit in this chair. Perhaps she is a permanent feature.

Maybe Mamie has lots of spirits floating around.

Daisy resting on the top tier of the cat tree.

Daisy watched Simon running around for a while from her spot on the top level of the cat tower. But now she’s jumped down to join the fun.

Half the time, the kittens’ rambunctious activity sounds like tennis balls in a dryer here in this house. But I love it! Seeing so much life with the kittens is entertaining and joyful.

My internet went out while I was typing this, so I went through all the troubleshooting I could think of. I wasted a good 30 minutes doing this.

Then it turned out Simon had turned off the power and the electricity by my chair.

Stuff just happens here.

Surely, naptime is not far on the horizon.

You are so skilled at decorating! I love your house, I hope you are happy๐Ÿ˜!

  2. What a cozy room. Looks so peaceful. I like that idea of the paper in the wood tray. I have a wood tray on my table and am not liking it. This may be the perfect solution.

  3. Placing the colorful shelf liner in your tray was genius!

    1. I’ve been wanting to use it for some time. I already had it when I figured out I’d be moving from the apartment, so I wasn’t going to use it there.

  4. Love the chairs Brenda. Such a cozy room.

    1. It’s a pretty small room, what someone leasing a home would probably refer to as “cozy.”

  5. The two blue chairs are very nice. They look like they are very well made. A great addition to your tv room and what a great price for two chairs. I love milk glass, I have a few pieces from my mother. I have several items from the Pioneer Womanโ€™s collection. Mamie sure is looking good!

    1. It’s a really good price for solid wood too. That’s kind of hard to find at most any price these days.

  6. Those kittens are going to keep you and Ivy on your toes! Mamie is looking good! I am guessing with the kittens and Ivy you are not starting seeds inside. I am (donโ€™t know why I do every year) last year I got ONE tomato off the plant that was ok to eat. That was one expensive cherry tomato. I just like to have plants around, I guess! I just got a small purple shamrock plant and a nice draecenia. Windy here but thankfully we missed the bad storms.

    1. I’m going to focus on the porch first, and that will all be in pots. They’re outside getting ready to lay more concrete in my driveway and next to the house for the two big trash cans. It isn’t wide enough that I can get out of my car easily with my cane, and that’s pretty costly. So I need to pay for that and then see where I am.

  7. Love your tv room. I have a large collection of milk glass that my Mom left me. Milk glass fits in any decor. Ivy and the kittens are just adorable. Love how Mamie is blossoming under your care. You do seem much happier and lighter in spirit in your new home….

    1. I’m much happier here. Totally happy and content with the three kitties.

      1. It is obvious in your postings

  8. I’m really enjoying the beautiful progress that you are making in your beloved Mamie, oh how I envy you! I just appreciate your style and knack for putting it altogether. You also seem to be in a happier place then when you were an apartment dweller, your mood seems brighter! But, that’s just my opinion and feeling.
Thank you again for sharing your life and home!

    1. This is a good place for me. The steps make things a little hard, but I rarely go anywhere, so it’s not a big deal.
