Did you know that it’s possible to spruce up a room and give it a little more glam for under $50? Well, it’s certainly doable. It just takes imagination.

There are lots of little ways you can add panache to your rooms without spending a lot of money.

An Old Lamp Gets New Life:

In Spruce Up A Room For Under $50, give a lamp new life with paint and a new lampshade

Give a tired lamp a new look. Paint the base and then spring for a new lampshade. Patterned lampshades are currently a hot commodity in decorating.

Then add a vignette of items in similar color hues on the surface nearby.

Cute Stencil:

Stencil a wall

Look around for a cute stencil and apply it to a wall. Paint is much cheaper than wallpaper. And if you grow tired of it, just paint over it.

Nail Head Trim Is Like Jewelry:

In Spruce Up A Room For Under $50, give nail head trim to chairs

Consider putting nail head trim around your upholstered dining room chairs. It just gives it that extra something special.

Wallpaper The Insides Of Book Shelves:

Wallpaper the inside of book shelves

Even one roll of wallpaper can be expensive. Pretty wrapping paper can be used instead.

Gold Bling:

In Spruce Up A Room For Under $50, add special corner hardware for the coffee table

Adding gold hardware to the corners of this coffee table gives it a little bling. Just dresses it up a little more.

A Different Painting Technique:

A wall gets two toned blue paing.

You could buy just enough paint to paint the outside of a sad piece of furniture.

In the photo above, they’ve painted the outside of the night stand yellow. And the color really pops!

You can also take a pretty piece of fabric and cover your headboard for a new look. Or paint the walls a two-toned shade of blue.

Make It Shine With New Throw Pillows:

In Spruce Up A Room For Under $50, switch out the couch pillows

Add a shiny sequined pillow to make your couch look snazzy. If you can’t find just what you want, buy the material and sew it yourself.

Go Bold With Paint:

Go bold with pink paint on the inside of a bookshelf

Here’s yet another idea for using just a little bit of paint. If you love a bright color but only want to use it sparingly, paint just the back of a book shelf.

Cut It Down To Size:

In Spruce Up A Room For Under $50, if you have a dining table but really need a coffee table, cut it down to size

Do you have a pretty dining table in storage, but really need a coffee table? Measure and cut the legs down to coffee table height. Instant coffee table!

Frame Memories:

Buy or DIY a shadow box and fill it with sweet memories

Purchase or DIY a shadow box to make a favorite family photo really stand out. You can always add little bits of memories to the bottom.

Dress Up The Bathtub:

Redress Your Desk:

Give your desk a little makeover. Purchase pretty file folders. You can DIY them yourself. Add a new ceramic holder to hold pens and pencils.

There are so many ways to add a little something to a room. If your room is looking ho-hum, see if one of these decorating ideas might give it new life.
