In Sunday Snippets 12.29.24, I will discuss what has been going on in my life this past week and what’s happening today.
Kasi will pick me up in a few hours, and we’ll go to lunch. I suggested we dine somewhere around where I live because there are so many lovely places we haven’t visited yet.

I live close to Cherry Street, a” foodies’ playground.” There are all kinds of restaurants and quirky stores, and Mother Road Market is also a mecca of dining choices.
Tulsa Market District is considered north midtown and has many restaurants, bars, coffee houses, bakeries, boutiques, etc., all packed into a small area. It even has an independent bookstore called Peace Of Mind.
Kendra:
Kendra is working today so she won’t be joining us. She rarely takes time off, and when she does, she likes to clean her house, which is about the size of mine, and be with her two dogs (Lulu and Thor) and one kitten (Millie). So it will just be Kasi and me today.
Millie, the kitten, is about seven months old. Another realtor found her and was going to take her to the pound, but Kendra couldn’t allow that. It’s been about four months since she took the cat in, and Millie rules the house.
Kendra recently got Thor a sweater because he seems to get cold. She said Millie picks on him when he wears the sweater, almost like she makes fun of him for wearing it.
She said the other day Thor had his back to Millie, and she was edging up to him like cats do when they’re going to pounce. Then she jumped at Thor and scared him.
Lulu, the other chihuahua, got mad at Millie for jumping on Thor and let her know it. She said they chased one another around her house, and it was like a circus.
Kendra and her boyfriend Scott are going to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, the first week of January, so she’ll have time off thenโa little downtime. If she turns her phone off, I doubt she’ll do that.
Two Cats I’ve Inquired About:
Speaking of which, I’ve inquired about two cats from separate litters who have bonded. The black cat is male, and the orange-and-white cat is female. Their names are Drake and Carmella.
The rescue organization asks that they be adopted together. In fact, with kittens, they said they prefer you adopt two. Ivy isn’t going to be playful at first, if at all, I don’t think. So they’d entertain each other, just as they do now.

Aren’t they precious? The rescue organization isn’t sure exactly when these kitties were born, but they estimate they were both born around August.
How this works is that you inquire about the pets, and if they deem you and your home a good fit, you fill out an application. At some point, they pay to have them spayed and vaccinated, etc.
The cat tree I ordered has finally been shipped. I think I ordered it on December 3rd, but this family-owned company builds them, so I knew it would take a while.
I’m trying to get some of the weight off of Ivy. I don’t leave her food bowl out anymore, and I give her less. I’m trying to get her moving, but it seems all she wants to do is sleepโat least in the daytime.
Yesterday, she jumped off the guest room bed and hurt her back foot. Her foot seems to be okay now. I’ve ordered pet stairs, but I can’t control everything she jumps off of.
Kendra’s dog, Lulu, needs to lose some weight, and it took a year to lose just four pounds.
What I’m Watching:
I’m watching the end of Hinterland. I love this show! I’ll watch the last episode tonight. Dialogue scenes were filmed twice for this series: first in English, then in Welsh. The show was broadcast in both languages.
What I’m Reading:
I can’t find a decent photo of this book. It is called Blood Orange by Drusilla Campbell. It’s about a woman whose little girl disappeared. And she blames the case her lawyer husband is working on, about a man accused of killing a child. It seems the town has turned on him for defending the man.
The child is returned a month later and left on their porch steps, but she won’t talk. The authorities don’t think that she was abused, but so far in the book, she is still mute.
Amazon Snippet:
Dana Cabot cannot remember the kind of person she was before May 29th, the day she became angry at God, at her workaholic attorney husband, and herself. The day her seven-year-old daughter, Bailey, disappeared.
As the months wear on without a trace of her adorable but troubled child, Dana can’t help blaming her husband’s controversial defense of an accused abuser for playing a role in the abduction–and it shows in the strain on their marriage.
But then a shocking event reveals what happened to Bailey โ and Dana’s unwitting role in it. Haunted by the unthinkable consequences of revealing everything she knows, Dana must decide whether to keep the truth to herself–or risk losing the rest of her family.
I was wondering the other day how many books I’ve read this year. It would be a lot!

So are you for sure adopting these two kittens?! How exciting if so! Ivy won’t be too thrilled (cats are very territorial) and it will take her a long time to warm up to them, but in the long run, I’m sure it’ll be fine. And maybe they’ll end up being entertainment and company for Ivy. Good idea about not leaving her food food bowl out. I never did that with my cats and none of them were overweight. Not good for them to have dry food anyway, especially all of the time. It’s a lot of carbs with no moisture, so puts on too much weight and dehydrates them.
Just a thought . . . You can use the Goodreads App to keep track of what books you have read. There is a reading challenge every year so you can challenge yourself to read a certain number of books. This app is very handy. You can consult it to see if you have read a book or if you have marked it โWant to readโ. Itโs free.
Oh, I didn’t know this!
Did you know that 75 percent of Orange tabby cats are male?
Well, how interesting!
Now that my daughter and her crew, including the dog, have moved out it is so quiet around here that I am having trouble adjusting. Maybe I need to find a couple kitties like you have taken in. I really want a dog, but don’t know if I can really afford one or take care of it properly as I would want a big dog. I really hate taking care of litter boxes for cats plus am a bit allergic so hesitate getting one–or two. But it is so darn quiet and I feel a bit lonely, which has been a big surprise to me since I have always liked my solitude. Anyway, looking at those two sweet kitten faces sure does tempt me to find one or two for myself.
If you arenโt sure you can afford care and take that dog on walks then donโt – until you absolutely sure. Or give yourself time to adjust to solitude- and then decide.
I was looking forward to you having your house to yourself. I don’t like the litter box, but I can deal with it at the prospect of kittens keeping Ivy company. I would have a separate litter box for the kittens. I think you just aren’t accustomed to your solitude yet.
Oh those two little scamps! Such fun and so little. Ivy might just become their big sister!
I hope so!
Your home is just lovely and cozy, and I enjoy every post. You are where you were meant to be.
Beautiful kitties! They need to live with you and Ivy.
The black kitty named Drake looks a bit mischievous.
No ๐ ,,,,, it’s a wonderful kitty kat! They both are and need you to be their mom Brenda!
๐ ๐โโฌ๏ธ
P. S. They will change your life ,,,,,, make it much better!!
I hope those two sweeties join your warm, happy home! You never know how theyโll all interact but giving it a try is a kind, generous thing to do! Iโm hoping for a happy family reunion. At one point, we had six. Truly, once you get past, say twoโฆ.more barely make a difference. They keep you young and alert. In this case, I think theyโd interrupt Ivyโs boredom.
Just have to share that when I saw your lead pic of the bookstore, I didnโt react well! What?? Brenda finds this living room attractive? After all weโve seen of her calm, classy, perfectly coordinated, understated, beautiful living areas? lolโฆ.โmy bad!โโฆ..for a bookstore, itโs an inviting area to browse your potential purchases! But the every day living clutter? Oh my poor head! Take me back to Brendaโs and lock me in!
Sorry! No, I don’t want that much clutter. And if you have young kitties, you must clear the way for them anyway.
You seem to be settling into your new home….good for you. It’s wonderful to have your girls around and helping out so much. All good.
I’m so enjoying seeing the family more!
