The Love Of Home Files #3: Halloween
This week on The Love Of Home Files I’m focusing on Halloween decorating, DIY’s, and food. Because it is right around the corner now.
I love anything terracotta because it reminds me of the pots I use for gardening. These terracotta pumpkins caught my attention.

The Man On The Moon:
This neutral Halloween setting is inspired by the man on the moon. The pages attached to the fireplace are very clever too. As are the use of leaves on the mantel.
Halloween Lanterns:
These Halloween lanterns would look perfect on your porch on Halloween night.
Sausage, Rice, & Cranberry Stuffed Mini Pumpkins:
Michael from Inspired By Charm calls this recipe a side dish, but I think it looks filling enough for a main dish.
He has a beautiful home, is a great cook, and a decorator as well. I love seeing what he comes up with.
DIY Terracotta Pumpkins By Bless This Nest:
Once again, terracotta grabs my attention and won’t let go.
From the photo on the left to the one on the right, look at the transformation of these pumpkins.
Carissa from Bless This Nest shows you how to take orange pumpkins and make them more distressed and aged with paint and flour.
Black Cat Yard Signs:
Since I love cats, I’d probably leave these yard signs up all year long. I wonder what Ivy would think of that?
Pumpkin Soup in Mini Pumpkin Bowls:
Pumpkin soup in mini pumpkin bowls would be the perfect soup served on Halloween. You can buy these pie (sometimes called sugar) pumpkins at the grocery store.
The author of this recipe says not to toss the seeds. They make a great crunchy topping.

DIY Air Dry Clay Ghosts:
What adorable little ghosts! The Halloween-inspired cloche is perfect. It contains a cloche within a cloche.
Halloween Charcuterie Board:
This Halloween charcuterie board is made up of Trader Joe’s products. But you could find ingredients most anywhere.
Skeleton Halloween Candle:
What a fun Halloween candle! Take a load off and “rest your bones.” This candle would look great anywhere in your home.
Dollar Tree Ghosts:
Emily from My Weathered Home created these cute little ghosts using Dollar Tree products. She tells you how she did it here.
How To Make A Halloween Cloche:
Rachel from The Crafted Life created this DIY Halloween cloche. Click here for her instructions.
Milk Chocolate Stuffed Jack-O-Lantern Cookies:
What would Halloween be without a delectable dessert?
I think these Milk Chocolate Stuffed Jack-O-Lantern cookies by Half Baked Harvest fit the bill. They look yummy!
I hope I’ve given you a lot of Halloween ideas. And if not ideas, then just fun things to look at.

I don’t do any Halloween decorating anymore (except for a couple of favorite tchotchkes from years past) but these are some really cute ideas. I love the skeleton charcuterie board.
I just love Autumn, and the entire holiday season. Halloween was entirely different when I was a child in the late 50’s. We went out after dark, by ourselves, no adults. We carried brown paper grocery bags and came home with them half-full. Halloween had to be my favorite, followed by Christmas, followed by Thanksgiving. The images you posted today brought back a lot of wonderful memories for this 73 year old!
It’s nice to “talk” to you almost everyday. You must be feeling a little better to put out a blog more often. We have very similar tastes when it comes to decor. I am loving my dollar store black cat on the bottom of my front door. It looks like it is sitting on the porch. Ave a peaceful evening.
So many wonderful ideas from very talented men and women. Very impressive!
Enjoy your day.
Those Dollar Tree ghosts are so cute! I’m not surprised they sold out online – and I had no idea you could order items from Dollar Tree online, I’m going to check it out.
