Melodious Birds…

Birdsong is the sound of perfection. The melodious notes are always right. Never too high; never too low.

They sing to one another, messages we don’t understand. Nor are we supposed to. It is bird language.

I love bird quotes and found some of my favorites to share with you…

“Birds teach a great life lesson. All you have to do is listen to their song.”

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
– Poet, novelist and playwright Langston Hughes

“A bird does not sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” -Maya Angelou

“The caged bird sings with a fearful trill, of things unknown, but longed for still, and his tune is heard on the distant hill, for the caged bird sings of freedom.” – Maya Angelou

“Relationships are like birds. If you hold tightly, they die. If you hold loosely, they fly. But if you hold with care, they remain with you forever.”

“The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.”
― J.M. Barrie, The Little White Bird

“She decided to free herself, dance into the wind, create a new language. And birds fluttered around her, writing “yes” in the sky.”
― Monique Duval

“In order to see birds it is necessary to become a part of the silence.”
― Robert Lynd

“The bird dares to break the shell, then the shell breaks open and the bird can fly openly. This is the simplest principle of success. You dream, you dare and and you fly.”
― Israelmore Ayivor

“Soft feathers cannot make a cruel bird kind”
― Munia Khan

Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow. Why then, oh way, can’t I? – The Wizard Of Oz (Edgar Y. Harburg)

  1. Our grandson asked us the other day what animal we would want to be and my husband said a bird. He's always wanted to fly, and he's totally transfixed when he sees an eagle flying.

    Lovely shots as always,

  2. I love the birdhouse in the first photo and I can see why you've got so many winged visitors!

Over the Rainbow is one of my all time favorite tunes and now I'll be humming it all night long! Of course Judy Garland's version is a classic, but have you listened to the version by IZ? I had the song on my Playlist back when I first started blogging and after reading your post, I had to find it for you on Youtube. If you have a chance, check it out. He's no longer with us, but his voice lives on. Happy weekend!

  3. Brenda, this is off topic but I noticed that beautiful featherweight singer sewing machine on your sidebar. Love it! I found my mom's after she passed away and had it refurbished. I think she got it at an antique store. I've never used it yet. Maybe this winter.

  4. Beautiful birds . . . I wasn't too happy with the birds this morning. Allergies are keeping me up at night so I wanted to sleep in. The cacophany created by all the neighborhood birds woke me early.
