A Bouquet Of Words

Flowers sing a song, a bouquet of words, the sweetest thing you’ve ever heard. Blossoming words unfold so beautifully, in soft, abundant layers.
Rain falls and nourishes the flowers, providing them with the moisture they need. Sunlight warms them and gives them life.

“The world has enough beautiful mountains and meadows, spectacular skies and serene lakes. It has enough lush forests, flowered fields, and sandy beaches. It has plenty of stars and the promise of a new sunrise and sunset every day. What the world needs more of is people to appreciate and enjoy it.” – Michael Josephson
The plants are prolific and growing fast. My containers are full of pink, purple, and yellow flowers. Big and small, they jut from the dirt like proud soldiers saluting.

Columbines:
The columbines are blooming again. They faded away, and the petals fell onto the ground. Then, with renewed energy, they returned a few weeks later. Little green buds were thickening, like a pause. And then the flowers burst forth, just as they did before.
They are such intricate flowers. So shapely and defined in their blooms. There’s such detail.
The flower’s shape and the name “columbine” itself (from “columba,” meaning dove) also connect it to themes of peace and innocence. Columbine flowers symbolize various meanings, often related to love, hope, strength, and resilience.
It is odd to think nature could paint such a pretty picture, like puzzle pieces joined together to form a multi-faceted mosaic.
“A sunflower field is like a sky with a thousand suns.” — Corina Abdulahm-Negura
Sweet Potato Vine:

The neon-green sweet potato vine spills over the side, such a contrast against the deep blue pot. It’s running a race for the fastest-growing plant, rubbing its leaves against the sweetness of pineapple sage and lemon verbena.
I never knew that blue and green could be such an explosive combination of colors. But it is a sight to behold.

“Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature.” — Gerard De Nerval

I am surprised that the plants on the porch are just as glorious as those down below, which get more sun. The roof eave juts out, keeping these plants from getting much more than semi-shade.
A Riot Of Color:
Yet, look at them. A chorus of a song; a rainbow of colors.
“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” — Frances Hodgson Burnett

The pink geraniums stretch long-stemmed arms from their pots, reaching toward the sunlight. It doesn’t seem to matter that they’re almost out of reach, because the blooms are thick and plentiful.

In one of the pots down in the beds, the coleus, vinca, and hosta are bursting out of the pot, hard to contain. One is trying to outdo the other to be noticed.
The varied shades of green on the vinca leaves look like spilled paint.
“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.”– Henri Matisse

Is there anything more beautiful than a riot of leaves and flowers spilling out of pots, birds singing in the trees, and the sound of water flowing? In summer, all of nature is an explosion of growth.
“That’s the thing about flowers, isn’t it? They’re lush and extravagant and demand your attention, and you think they’re the most exquisite thing, but then in the shortest time they’re not very lovely at all. They wilt and they turn the water brown, and soon you can’t hold on to them any longer.” ― Josie Silver
Lady Bird Johnson once said, “Where flowers bloom, so does hope.” This was during her effort to encourage planting wildflowers along highways, spreading beauty and hope throughout the country.
As this wise woman knew, flowers have a beauty that nothing can match or surpass. A bouquet of words that is sung by those who know what love is.
Remember to stop and watch the flowers bloom. It’s the most beautiful and gratifying sight in the world.

Your plants and flowers are so beautiful! I bet your neighbors are enjoying the lovely scenery you’ve created as well!
Brenda, I always knew you’d have the most beautiful porch once you got to plant everything. It’s all so beautiful and relaxing. You finally get to enjoy all your hard work. Especially having a nice big porch to sit and relax on, while you just take it all in. I wish I could join you!
