A New Glass Coffee Table

I ordered a new glass coffee table rimmed in gold, mainly because I was recently offered a choice of Turkish area rugs from a rug company. And I wanted to show it off in style when it arrives.
It is somewhat elegant (in my view) and prompted me to get a glass coffee table from Wayfair. The glass will show the shades of the brown rug underneath. For what’s the point of having a pretty new rug if the coffee table covers most of it from view?
I had Wayfair bonus points to use, which brought the coffee table’s cost down to around $100.

Taking Photos of Charlie & Ivy:
I’ve been following Ivy and Charlie around with my camera, trying to get photos of them. She won’t stay still for very long. And Charlie is following close behind Ivy because she’s still a novelty to him.
I am growing accustomed to watching Ivy jump up on a big stack of quilts and pull them down to the floor on top of her. Which means I have to refold them and put them back.
I am not only waking up through the night to let Charlie out, but Ivy also wakes me up for a tummy rub. They keep me busy.
All this I do with gladness. Because my heart is filled with love for these two four-legged miracles in my life.
Charlie Watches Ivy:
Watching Ivy is pretty much what Charlie does with his days now. He likes watching Ivy jump and cavort around. I think he finds it puzzling.
Today I saw him get a bit frisky and playful with her. When he gets frisky, he hops backward! It’s quite funny to watch.
When Charlie isn’t sitting watching Ivy, he’s following her from room to room. She seems to mesmerize him.
Ivy is delighted and curious about so many things. The ceiling fans, what’s outside the doors, dust underneath furniture, anything and everything.
Ivy & Bugs:
And Ivy loves to catch crickets. Bugs don’t stand much of a chance of living long with Ivy around.
Oh, what has Ivy found underneath this piece of furniture? Charlie is obviously eager to find out.
Book News:
In other news, I finished a book I was reading and am about to start another. I finished “The Family Tabor” by Cherise Wolas. I read her first book a few months ago.
The story unfolds over one weekend. I’ve always admired authors who can write hundreds of pages about just a day or so in time.
Patio Gardening:
The pineapple sage is blooming, which this plant does every fall. This is one of my very favorite herbs.
The rain has now stopped. There’s just nothing better than morning rain. Well, except maybe rain at night when you’re lying in bed.
The lantana plant is blooming more now that the weather has cooled down a bit.
Lantana is Toxic to Animals:
Please keep an eye on your pets if you grow lantana, for it is toxic. The leaves and green berries are especially dangerous. This plant can be fatal to children, dogs, and horses.
I will leave you with a photo of Ivy today. I’ve probably snapped hundreds of photos of her by now.
Not all of them are usable because she moves so fast; many are just a blur.
Brenda, I always enjoy reading about your daily life on your blog. Congratulations on Ivy! The photo of Charlie and Ivy at the window is so sweet. I wish you much happiness with them. I think the adoption place is wise and caring to give a couple of weeks let everyone settle in.
I think I saw a previous post where you were wondering about Ivy eating Charlie’s food? I’ve always heard that dogs can eat cat food but cats should not eat dog food, for what it’s worth.

And this is exactly where I think Abi chose Ivy for you. She knew who was perfect for her Charlie and her mama. That’s how you knew when to make your move. She’s still looking after you both and making sure you feel happy and loved.
I even love their names together, Charlie and Ivy! Sounds like a very upscale antique dish store! I love cats, and Ivy is a beauty. My grown son who lives only a mile away with his family, is extremely allergic to cats, otherwise I’d have several I’m sure. I love the photos and updates on their antics, please be careful and not let her get out!

I love seeing the pictures of Charlie and Ivy. It’s wonderful to see this sweet boy interested and energized by Miss Ivy. Love the picture of him behind her pondering what she is up to. It seems something is always going on in your little apartment ! Love how you keep decorating and redecorating. You keep me/us inspired and give us so many good ideas. More pictures of the babies please and can’t wait to see the whole coffee table.
Ivy is so pretty and looks so soft. I bet Charlie is completely confounded by Ivy because Abi acted so differently. Keep sharing the pix, please.
I love your enthusiasm now Brenda, when you talk about Charlie and Ivy! My siblings and I had a cat like that named Susie, when we were young.
Good thing we have digital cameras nowdays or you’d be going broke buying film! The photos of the siblings are precious. It’s so fortunate that they are getting along so well. I’m glad you are Ivy’s mama now.
I enjoyed your commentary on the new coffee table. Will you show us the rug soon? I have a small space for a living room and tho’t I maybe should look for a glass coffee table. I don’t have a coffee table right now, but I think I’d best wait until my grandsons are a little older and not so rambunctious. It might not survive them!
My petunias are still blooming but are very leggy. I have collected some seeds from them hoping to grow some next year that are the beautiful magenta and deep purple colors that were so beautiful together this summer. The seeds are so, so tiny, though. Have you ever seen them? Not bigger than a pin prick.
