An Outing With An Old Friend

I went on an outing with my old friend, Rhonda, yesterday. We hit a few thrift stores, but didn’t come up with anything there. Then we went to a couple of antique malls in Broken Arrow.

We were a bit woozy from the heat at that point, so she located a Sonic Drive-In, and we ordered cherry limeaids. I hadn’t had one of those in ages. It sure tasted good on such a hot day.
Then we went to one last antique mall, where I found a few things I’ll show you later. I didn’t spend more than $10 on any one item. I think I spent forty-something dollars total. Rhonda didn’t find anything on this outing. I’m sure there will be many more outings, though.
She and I took up like we’d never been apart, though we hadn’t been in contact for over 50 years. It’s nice to have found my old friend. If you’d told me a year ago that we’d see each other again, I’d have been astonished. Funny how these things just happen out of the blue.
Then Rhonda drove back in the direction of my house. We stopped at a local Mexican drive-thru for Taco Tuesday, just down the road, and ordered tacos to bring home and eat.
Those street tacos tasted so darned good after an afternoon of shopping. Taco Tuesday meant we paid ten dollars for six tacos.
So that was fun. We’ll have to do that again. It was fun going to thrift stores and antique malls.
The Kitties & The Fly:

Yesterday evening, a fly got into the house. You know what that means with cats. They leaped in the air trying to catch it, but I don’t think they ever did. However, I don’t see it today. So something happened to it.
Daisy gets most upset when there’s a fly inside buzzing around. Sometimes she’ll cry until I manage to smack it down with something.
Greg & His Daughter:
Greg walked his oldest daughter down the aisle in Dallas last Saturday. I haven’t talked to him yet to find out how things went. He has two beautiful daughters; one is approximately 22 years old, and the other is 3 years old. I’ve met the younger daughter.
He was to give a speech and was a bit nervous about that, so I’ll be interested in finding out if things went smoothly for him. Then, of course, there was the father/daughter dance he was to take part in. I imagine that would have been an emotional time for both of them.
Family Tidbits:
Kasi and her family are in Branson this week. They’re supposed to return to Tulsa sometime on Saturday. School will start in about a month, and then everyone will look forward to fall. Andrew is now 11 years old.
Riley is taking a gap year to take online and Zoom classes. He hopes to go to law school in the fall of 2026. Marley is 16 and in high school.
I haven’t talked to Kendra this week, so I don’t know what she’s up to.

I canโt wait to see your thrift finds. Itโs nice you are keeping in touch with your friend. Daisy and flies, lol. That must be so funny and entertaining to watch her try to catch them. Just imagining it makes me smile. Is your grandson taking beginning law classes online/ zoom and is only waiting to go to a campus next fall? Or perhaps pursuing other interests? It will be nice having a lawyer in the family! You must be so proud! Congratulations to Gregโs daughter! Thatโs so exciting for her. I hope she has many happy years with her new husband. Oh, Iโve been meaning to askโฆ what was the name of the book where the husband just walked out of his life and stayed in the attic watching his family for years? I think thatโs what it was about. Well, itโs hard to believe school starts in a few weeks. It feels like the summer went by so fast. Iโm looking forward to fall weather.
I have a few friends like that and I really cherish them!โฆ.the ones with whom months, and even years, just melt away when you see them again. My least faves are those who declare with self righteousness โWhere have you been? Iโve not heard from you in ages!โโฆโฆ..well, um, if our friendship was that important to you, why didnโt YOU call me?
Sorry! Iโm in a testy mood today!
No worries! We all have those days.
Sounds like you and Rhonda had a great time! Iโm getting the itch to go thrifting soon. Iโm into vintage so hoping to find some treasures.
My cat woke me in the middle of the night tormenting a cricket. I canโt find it today so hoping it got away.
Fingers crossed!
Lovely to hear of your outing with your old friend and your happiness in being together!! Happy for you!!
He have a lot of fun together.
I can tell you that it was a fun day and it was 99 degrees in the shade…we were both tuckered out! I’m so thankful that we found each other again, there were things that we never got to do together and it is my plan to do as many of them as possible!
Ditto here!
Looking forward to hearing about more of your adventures!
I’m sure there will be a lot more adventures!
Nothing better than good friends going thrifting and having a nice lunch! Enjoy your day!
It’s pretty hot out there. Wherever you live, stay cool!
