Bouquets From The Garden

Sometimes I will get the urge to pull a Mason jar off the shelf and go outside and gather a bouquet from the garden. I will walk among the groupings of plants and check to see what has bloomed overnight.

Then I gather a simple bouquet of various flowers to take indoors and enjoy.

In Bouquets From The Garden, I gather a bouquet of flowers from my garden in a simple Mason jar.

Walking around this garden space is a relaxing endeavor. The scent of so many flowers and herbs fills the air. I love to enjoy the view of my garden that I have created little by little over time.

I’ll pause and listen to the birds chirping up in the trees. I feel a peacefulness wash over me in this little space I rent and call home.

The dogs always want to tag along when I go outside. They walk around, doing their normal sniffing, as all dogs do when outdoors.

I have my clippers with me, and I look around while choosing various blooms to take inside.

It is not a fancy bouquet at all. But the perfume is heady, and the many colors make me smile.

I end up with daisies, pink roses, and white alyssum. Alyssum is one of my favorite scents in the garden. As you walk past it, it releases the most wonderful scent into the air from its tiny flowers.

In the Victorian language of flowers, Alyssums are known to mean “worth beyond beauty.”

Gathering A Bouquet:

Sometimes I will take the Mason jar lid and turn it upside down. Then I place a votive candle in it and get a match to light it.

– Luther Burbank

I’m simply enjoying the scent of my bouquet mingling with the candle’s fragrance.

How many times have you driven past a field of wildflowers and wished you had the time to stop and snip a bouquet to take home? I’ve done that.

As the name implies, these are wildflowers that grow naturally and were not intentionally planted by humans.

They are Mother Nature’s flowers. Her field of flower stems bends in the breeze.

In Bouquets From The Garden, this is my coffee table with a selection of white pitchers in a galvanized container.

What Does The Word Bouquet Mean?

The word bouquet comes from the Old French term meaning “clump of trees.”

It would be difficult for a bride to lug a clump of trees down the aisle at her wedding. So the word now means “a small bunch of arranged flowers.”

And finally, here in my living room is where I can most enjoy the view of my little apartment. I can look out the patio doors and see my containers of flowers and herbs.

It is where a simple, uncomplicated life is the best life I could have ever dreamed of.
