New & Notable Mentions 10/1/22
On Saturday I often like to mention articles and images I’ve seen in the past week and share them with you.
Here’s what I found this week as we’re ending the month of September and October begins. Fall is here.
The blog Shiplap And Shells has a lovely fall tour of her home, a small beach cottage on the Puget Sound.
The blog With Love From Kat shows off her new farmhouse kitchen with her dream La Cornue stove.
Apartment Therapy shows you how to declutter the busiest part of your bathroom in 20 minutes or less.
Here’s a taco salad recipe I’d like to try. However, instead of ground beef, I think I might try those vegan crumbles.
The Atlantic has an article about how the Covid pandemic’s legacy means there will be future pandemics. All of this will happen again. And climate change has something to do with it.
Better Homes & Garden’s 2023 choice for color of the year is a warm tone called Canyon Ridge.
This blogger shows you how to build a countertop with reclaimed wood flooring.
Cup Of Joe has a recipe for pound cake with apples, French style. It looks delicious!
Here’s everything you need to know about Target’s Black Friday sale.
Color Me Thrifty shows you how to make darling owl wind chimes from a repurposed silver tray. Isn’t it cute and creative?
Here are 7 signs that you’re secretly dehydrated that have nothing to do with thirst.
Should you rake your leaves this fall or leave them on the ground? Garden Therapy explains what she decided to do and why.
Here are 10 mustard items that will bring sunshine into your home. (I’m in love with the mustard-colored lamp, but I have too many lamps already!)
That apple pound cake looks so yummy. Checking that out. Have a good week Brenda.
Thanks for all these delightful links to look through! I love the website, Cup of Jo. I would love to make that apple pound cake, but a cup of sugar for just a small loaf pan cake deters me. I rarely eat sugar anymore (so inflammatory!) and when I even eat a little of it, it makes me sick. I’ll pin the recipe and perhaps make it on a special occasion.
Please reconsider using vegan crumbles. Most of them are made from soy protein, which is very bad for you. Even if you found one without soy, they are an ultra-processed product. One is better off eating REAL food, not food made in a factory. You can get a pound of organic, grass-fed ground beef at Aldi for $5.49. That would go a long way for you. You could divide it up into smaller freezer packs. This beef is high in B vitamins and iron, which is great for menopausal and post-menopausal women, plus an added bonus for the healing of your ankle. <3
I never used to like yellow or gold, but lately I've found I'm drawn to golds and mustard colors, especially for fall.
So many great things to explore in this post! It’s going to keep me busy for awhile!
Oh I love posts like this, so many fun recipes, people, blogs and information. It is scary that covid or an iteration of it will continue and continue and continue, let us hope that it is never again something that shuts down the world.
Happy to read that Target will no longer be open in Thanksgiving!
Have a wonderful weekend Brenda!
Brenda, I loved everything about your blog today. The pound cake with apples looks delicious and I really enjoyed reading about the reclaimed flooring countertop. I will check out the other blogs tomorrow!
Thanks for a gathering all those good articles. I loved reading Better Homes and Gardens. If you have time check out Golden boys and me blog. Her home is adorable and her style is similar to yours. I would love a piece of apple cake and some hot cider. Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks for all the lovely things to graze and gaze on. Love the color of the year even though it’s not a color I might have ever thought of using. The taco salad and the apple cake – oh yes!
Wow, you picked a lot of really good articles to share with us this week. I can’t wait to read through them all! I have tried several of The Pioneer Womans recipes, and they are always good! I can’t wait to see you decorated for Fall. I started pulling out some of my decorations too this morning.
I painted an accent wall in my house that BH 2023 color in 2020. Guess I was ahead of the curve. Still love it!
I guess you were ahead of the curve!
LOVED this post. Keep them coming on Saturdays. it gives us readers something to look forward to weekly. I have a quilting post I love on Saturdays. It’s a quiltinglifeblog. Saturdays 7. Enjoy !!!
Will do!
I have 3 more great websites for this wonderful community to browse! They have lots of recipes, tablescapes, and decorating ideas too! Inspired by charm, The painted apron and Home is where the boat is. These are some of my favs!
I do know of those blogs.
A plethora of fun information this morning! It’s all about the food for me – LOL The pound cake with apples looks so yummy! I’m a huge fan of taco salads but I use ground turkey. Yum!!
I use ground turkey for taco soup, as well. So good!
Have a great day!
That’s what I used: ground turkey.
I love that dough bowl! I’ve been searching for one like this for a couple yrs now. I browse online what Williams Sonoma is selling every season, so I’ve already seen that beautiful stove many times. When the apple cake came in my feed it made my mouth water, so I agree it looks yummy! Something I will be baking soon! My wooden tray arrived yesterday and I love it! I saw the long trays I bought last yr are already sold out again!
Everyone have a nice weekend!
My daughter doesn’t drink enough water, so I’m going to read that to her. She’s been getting more headaches lately.
Nice finds Brenda!
My comments disappear fast so I have to hurry up and send them before finishing what I have to say.
I can’t figure out why your comment would disappear.
dough bowls try hobby lobby or joann’s.😊
Thanks Lynette! Much appreciated! I’ll be looking on their website! Have a great weekend!
I know. The apple cake looks to be a real winner.
Love the black and gold stove! I looked to see if my local shop had one, to my surprise they do but no price was listed! I dread to think how much.
I also liked/loved the pillow with the bird print, I have a grey sofa so think it would look lovely with two of those. I can’t remember the price now but probably wouldn’t want to pay whatever it was. I do have a couple of yellow pillows already, but the bird print ones would look better.
The sun is shining here in Ontario Canada and so I think I will get out in the garden and do a bit of preparation for the coming winter. The older I get the more I hate the winter. Give Ivy a hug for me please Brenda.
Ivy loves pats and petting.
Wow – the “mustard” collection was interesting. A $1,300 plus pendant light that I didn’t think was very attractive and a $399 sofa that is so fashionable and would fit in with so many different decor styles, just amazing. The pillow with the bird print also appealed, but not the price 🙂 The first image with the doggy lounging on a throw on the sofa – perfect!
I came close to buying a mustard couch last time around.
That’s one dreamy stove!! Love wood countertops and I’m totlyy on board with not raking leaves!
