Today I’m showing you and overview of the dining and living room area as it flows together through the large open space.
An Evening With Family:
Yesterday evening I had such a wonderful time. Kendra came over with Riley, 18, and Marley, 13.
Riley is going to the University of Oklahoma in the fall and plans to be a doctor.
Kendra brought supper and cupcakes. We sat around my dining table and ate the meal and chatted.
Then Kendra hung the curtain rods that had just come in. She hung the curtains over the window behind my chair, as you can see in the first photo.
More Curtains Have Been Hung:
Don’t the curtains look great? I think of the curtains as the icing on the cake. It just finishes things off.

Kendra also hung the curtain rod in the second bedroom, which hasn’t gotten much attention yet.
The curtains, exactly like the ones I already had that I originally ordered 3-4 years ago, should arrive soon.
With the rod already in place, all I have to do now is add the curtains.

There’s my sweet little Gracie perched on the top of the couch, unaware that her photo is being taken.

I brought in the red indoor/outdoor chair I’ve had forever in order to accommodate seating for everyone.
I love my new home and feel safe and content here. This is just about the right size space for me and the kitties.

Visually Separating Spaces:
I chose to separate these two spaces, the living and dining area which is just one long room, by angling the couch over toward the middle.
Then I visually grounded it in place by placing the green cupboard behind it.
Therefore the area seems more like two spaces rather than one. By doing this you define what you want the spaces used for.

New Floor Lamp:
I couldn’t get enough bright light for the ponytail palm. So I ordered the tall, slim, and more modern type floor lamp and put it along the hallway wall.
When I’m trying to decide where to put table and floor lamps, I look at the area more like a grid.
Then I place the lights where they’re equidistant, thus adding light in more equal proportions where they’re most needed.

Corner Of The Living Room:
Above is the very first area I arranged my first week here. I still like the quilt on the wall. It’s the only quilt hanging on the wall in my apartment.
I’ve got some decisions to make about the kitchen, then I’ve got to arrange the furniture in the second bedroom.
Have a great weekend! It’s sunny and bright here today.

My first thought is that the room looks so cozy and homey, it’s like you’ve lived there for a long time. I love the couch on the angle to make it feel like two spaces, plus it’s just more interesting, visually. The curtains definitely add the finishing touch. Beautiful!
blank bland canvas to a home! It really looks nice and cozy. Even through the pictures, your home feels like a very comfortable home. Great job Brenda!
Hi Brenda, I’m a couple days late reading this as I work 12 hour or longer shifts but wanted to say HaPpY Birthday & hope you have a great year. So happy for you in your lovely new home! You are a great decorator. I love hearing about Ivy & Gracie. My own rescue cat is so affectionate & adorable that I wonder how I ever lived without him. And to think I rescued him out of a tree in my own woods ! He has thanked me a thousand times over 😊
looks fantastic
Happy Birthday, Brenda!
How nice to have Kendra and family over for a visit. And exciting for Riley to be heading off to University soon.
It is so good to see your drapes on the windows. And Ivy and Gracie settling in to their new home. I also love the couch placement. Who am I kidding? Your new home is lovely all around. I’m glad you have moved into such a brighter and happier home. It’s good of you to share the adventure.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRENDA!!!! I’m so glad that you were able to celebrate it with Kendra, and your Grandchildren!
And There is absolutely not one single thing that I Don’t Love about your new Home Brenda…. I Love everything! And I am so very Happy for that you feel like this is Home and you are at Peace and contented with it.
I so look forward to visiting with you, Ivy and Gracie everyday to see the progress that you have made with decorating in each room and hearing about the Kitties!
Happy Birthday!🎈🎁🎂
Brenda,
Your new home looks amazing. You have done a great amount of decorating in such a short amount of time. I have followed you before you left Texas and have always admired your taste of decorating.
Thank you for sharing…it all looks so great…and in such a short time too!! Giving me ideas for our new space ere long…we may know on Monday or shortly thereafter…or may need to wait a bit longer. Which is fine…I still have so much to go through and box up etc here.
Happy Birthday, Brenda!
Brenda, your new home looks fabulous! I am so happy that you are already settled and entertaining. How wonderful to have your grandchildren visit, and of course your daughter. I hope that you have many more dinner parties!
In case I missed it, have you received the results from your MRI?
YOur place is looking so good. Wow you work quickly and got so much done. I love the curtain they look so pretty. Have a good weekend.
Happy Birthday Brenda! I just love the way your apartment is coming together, it is really beautiful! You have such a knack for putting things together. I have an idea for the mirror in your kitchen. I would remove it if you can and replace with a custom plate rack with shelves to display your pretties. I would do it in all white with a beadboard back. You need to change out the light fixture for something that looks more farmhouse/cottage looking. Can’t wait to see what you decide on, I’m sure it will be great!
If there’s anyone who knows how to put rooms together, it’s you! I love your cottage decor and the colors you use. Your home is cheerful, welcoming and cozy.
Happy birthday! How lovely that Kendra and the grandkids came over to have dinner and cupcakes with you.
Love the way you angled the sofa with the green chest behind it. It is looking so inviting!
Happy Birthday,Brenda

🎉🥳 Happy Birthday Brenda!!! 🎂🎁
Glad u had a fantastic day with your family!
Brenda, you home looks wonderful, you are talented with ability to decorate your apartment. I am borrowing many of your decorating ideas. Glad you and family enjoyed birthday time together. You have time to get the inside finished, so when Spring comes the outside fun can being with planting. I look forward to how you will complete
outside, neighbors are in for a treat. You sound so happy with new home, enjoy it each day as you have worked diligently to get everything in place, and kind enough to share the journey with your faithful friends.
Wow, everything looks so great! I appreciate the wide angle view. It really helps visualizing everything in relation to each other. Yes, the curtains look really pretty, and certainly solved your verticle blinds problem. It’s so nice Kendra’s family came to spend the day with you yesterday. Happy birthday! I hope you have a wonderful day! 🧁🍦🎁🎈💐🥳
I LOVE it! Absolutely love it!!!! I didn’t realize you had a window by your recliner! It’s a very cute apartment and I really love what you’ve done with it!!! It’s very homey!!!!!
And fwiw, I’m buying those curtain thingys that go above those verticals!!! I ended up taking anything curtain related down because a rod was so problematic to go over them. But I don’t have nice kitties. I have a home wrecker cat, so my verticals have to stay, but yay! Now I can hang something over the top!!!
Very beautiful, Brenda!
Happy Birthday Brenda 🎂🎈
