Sleeping On A Heated Mattress Pad
I’m truly enjoying sleeping on a heated mattress pad. I purchased mine last year from Amazon.
Every evening about an hour before I plan to go to bed and read, I turn my heated mattress pad on.
By the time I get into bed, my sheets are nice and toasty. And I must say, it feels wonderful on my sore ankle.
Usually I read a book for an hour or so, luxuriating in the warmth until I’m feeling sleepy.
I consider my heated mattress pad one of my best buys last year.
Benefits Of Sleeping On A Heated Mattress Pad:
Medical News Today says if you sleep at a comfortable temperature overnight it can help improve sleep quality.
A heated mattress pad can benefit a person in several ways. It helps them stay warm and comfortable overnight, and the heat can also help relax muscles and ease pain.
Using a heated mattress pad also means that a person is only heating one particular area of their room. This way, they may not need to heat their bedroom or whole house overnight, which can reduce heating costs.
Are Heated Mattress Pads Safe For Seniors:
I read that older adults shouldn’t sleep with a heating pad. Instead if they want heat all night, they should consider heated mattress pads.
They are safer to use than heating pads for long-term relief.
Older electric blankets are the source of fires every year. Generally, mattress pads are a bit safer because they lie flat on the bed. Thus, the wires aren’t at risk of bunching up.
I just love sleeping on a heated mattress pad. It sure helps ease my back pain.
You can splurge and purchase really nice ones for over $100 dollars. But I purchased mine from Amazon for around $50 for my full-size bed.
If your aching joints call out for relief at night, you might consider getting a heated mattress pad. I sleep much better now.

I would love one since I’m always hurting somewhere but we have a queen bed and he’s always hot so what do I do?
So glad the heated mattress pad has provided you with relief. I will search for one for my hubby in hopes of relieving his back pain. The style you have with it being similar to a fitted sheet won’t work for us because we have a queen bed and I wouldn’t want the heating on my side of the bed. I’ll search for one that would be flat and cover his side only. Thanks again for sharing!
We love our heated mattress pad. As with most items, they don’t last forever and need to be replaced. Our blanket part died a few years ago, but the controllers (we have a king) still worked.
So, I put them up on eBay and they sold for like $25.00 each. I received an email after the sale, from the buyer and he was thrilled to get his blanket working again, without spending a lot of money. Plus, I was able to keep something out of the landfill and help offset the cost of my new mattress pad.
So, if your blanket dies, make sure you check the old controller on your new pad.
We love our heated mattress pad. Have been using one for about 13-14 years now. Of course, we’ve had to replace it in this amount of time. This winter we got a new one at Target.
I love mine. Had no idea it would make for such blissful sleeping.
Brenda, did you see this article about the cons of a heated mattress pad to your feet? Thought of you and your ankle when I read it.

I have read articles like this before. All I know is that it sure feels good on my ankle. When my ankle is cold, it hurts more.
We have been using a heated mattress pad for many years after we could not replace our water bed of 30 years so we are use to sleeping soundly with the warmth on our arthritic joints.
I always tend to wake up a lot during the night. Now I sleep longer than I ever have before. Less interrupted sleep.
I’ve been using one of these for 20+ years! Love them!!
I didn’t even know about them until last year! I must have been living under a rock.
The day may come when I’ll love a heated mattress pad but for now I just shove a basset hound out of the way and take her warm spot and wait for her to snuggle up on one side and the beagle on the other. Not gonna call it ideal if I need to get up, but I’m not feeding these little stinkers for nothing lol.
I wish Ivy would snuggle up. But that’s not gonna happen.
We have one, but all the newer mattresses we have say don’t use them as it damages memory foam. I think they can be turned on medium for a few minutes, then must be turned off.
It’s a shame. I use a heated throw when sitting in a recliner though, which keeps the thermostat down.
I don’t have memory foam. My mattress is about 4 years old.
We have a memory foam mattress with a foam topper – we use a heated mattress pad and have never had any problems. We turn our mattress pad on high about an hour before we get in bed and then turn it off once we get in the bed.
I meant a heated mattres pad, not an electric heating pad.
I love sleeping with the heat. I’ve only ever used an electric blanket, and not an electric heating pad, but I agree it feels wonderful. I, too, love turning it on while I’m getting ready for bed and crawling into a nice, warm bed.
I typically wake up every few hours. But with this mattress pad, I sleep longer and only wake up once or twice.
