This week in Sunday Snippets 1.26.25…

Supper At Kendra’s House:

Kendra and Marley invited me over for pork chops and potatoes on Friday night.

I probably don’t go out after dark more than once or twice a year, but it wasn’t dark when I left. It was nice of her to have me over, and I enjoyed chatting with my daughter and granddaughter.

When I came home, the three cats were in the same spot as when I leftโ€”the kittens were at the top of the cat tower. And Ivy was in the TV room, curled up in one of the blue chairs.

Oh, what fun there is in a house with three cats! They play and play, then plop down and sleep for a few hours before the fun begins again. If you’re thinking about getting a kitten, consider getting two.

The rescue where I got Simon and Daisy doesn’t allow you to adopt kittens under six months of age unless you adopt two. That way, they can play together and keep each other entertained.

Simon has become somewhat of a mama’s boy. He likes to be where I am. But the rest of the time, he chases and is chased by Daisy. I’ve noticed Ivy watching them play. You know that way cats have where they get really still and move down close to the floor? That’s what she’s doing. I’m just waiting for her to join the fun. Then she can work some of that weight off.

What I’m Watching/Streaming:

I’m watching Hidden Assets on Acorn TV.

Hidden Assets searches for and seizes profits from illegal enterprises. They follow the money trail until they find the person or person’s identity, then go after their money and assets.

I’m watching the first season, where there is a suicide bomber who detonates at a fashion show in Antwerp, Belgium. The show is set in Ireland and Belgium, with detectives working on both sides because the cases are linked.

The third season will be aired in the US later in 2025.

What I’m Currently Reading:

Amazon

I’m reading Holly by Stephen King.

Holly Gibney, one of Stephen Kingโ€™s most compelling and resourceful characters, returns in this chilling โ€œexploration of grief and delusion, just pure undistilled evilโ€ (New York magazine) as she uncovers the truth behind multiple disappearances in a midwestern town.

When Penny Dahl calls the Finders Keepers detective agency, hoping for help locating her missing daughter, Holly Gibney is reluctant to accept the case. Her partner, Pete, has Covid. Her (very complicated) mother has just passed away. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Pennyโ€™s desperate voice makes it impossible to turn her down.

Meanwhile, mere blocks from Bonnie Dahl’s disappearance live Professors Rodney and Emily Harris. They are the picture of bourgeois respectability: married octogenarians, devoted to each other, and semi-retired lifelong academics. But they are also harboring a shocking, unholy secret in the basement of their well-kept, book-lined home, one that may be related to Bonnieโ€™s disappearance.

And it will prove nearly impossible to discover what they are up toโ€ฆfor they are savvy, patient, and ruthless. Holly must summon her formidable talents to outthink and outmaneuver these unimaginably depraved and brilliantly disguised adversaries in this chilling and unforgettable masterwork from Stephen King.

  1. Something strange has happened with your blog. I cannot see the Sunday Snippets post when I log into cozylittlehouse. I could only access it from comfyhouse sidebar. Even then, I had to click on the post listed on the second line and not cozylittlehouse. Hope you can understand what I am talking about. I tried with different browsers and also my computer and tablet. I’m guessing I am not the only one since I see no comments.

    1. Yup, same with me The bar keeps disappearing as well. The site is a mess with flashing ads and videos playing over content. I hope you didnโ€™t get hacked!

    2. I can never see the blog anymore either until at least a day sometimes two days later

    3. Yup, me too The bar keeps disappearing on me but I was able to โ€œcatchโ€ the post before it was gone again. The site is a mess with flashing ads and videos playing on top of content. I hope you didnโ€™t get hacked

  2. The kittens are growing so fast! Each is a really beautiful little animal. Daisy’s middle name should be Butterscotch. That’s what her coat reminds me of–such a subtle color of peachy-orange. I have never read Steven King. He scares me! Right now I am reading a book on Mohammed and the religion he started. In the beginning it wasn’t so violent. I am getting into the part where the author is talking about the progression of tho’t that gradually occurred to move the beliefs toward the idea of the ‘”holy jihad”. Definitely not an up-lifting book but interesting.

  3. Those are all really cute pictures of the kitties! You said Simon is hard to photograph, but I think youโ€™re getting some really good pictures of him! Are you having to take 20 to get 1 good one, lol? I can totally see that happening! ๐Ÿ˜‚. Thatโ€™s so nice that you got to go have a nice dinner with your daughter and granddaughter. Are their animals as animated and entertaining to watch as yours are?

  4. Good morning, adorable pic of Ivy on the coffee table….sweet

  5. I used to be a huge Stephen King fan, but I had to stop reading his books. What used to be far fetched isnโ€™t out of the realm of possibility anymore.

    1. I have to agree with you about that!
