Today, on Sunday, 1.5.25, I have snippets of news (can you believe we’re already into 2025?) Of course, I have tidbits about Simon and Daisy.

When I opened the door to the guest room, they got past me, and I couldn’t catch them. Of course, they went to Ivy in my bedroom, and she hissed at them. So I closed the door to my bedroom to give her space, and I’m going to let them run off some of this energy.

It sounds like a herd of something running in here instead of two kittens. My word, what bundles of energy!

I can always get photos of Daisy because she is sometimes still. Simon, not so much. He’s a busy boy and has lots to check out.

Daisy is the sweetest kitten. She can be still long enough to be petted. At this stage of his development, Simon is not interested in cuddling. He wants to go-go-go. Simon is always moving. And he has the prettiest eyes.

That Simon is going to keep me on my toes for sure! Daisy is a cuddle bug. She might even be a cat that will sit on my lap. Ivy won’t do that. You never know what their personalities are going to morph into.

Cat Tower:

At the company’s website, this is actually called a cat tower. It is made for large cats.

Marley came over Friday to put the cat tower together for me. It wasn’t complicated, but the parts were heavy. This is where I’ve purchased from before, and I’ve always been happy with their well-made products.

What I’m Watching:

I’m watching Season 8 of Shetland. After Douglas Henshall left the show, I don’t find it quite as interesting. I wish he’d come back.

Ashley Jenson, who took his place, is okay, but many people loved the character Jimmy Perez. I like Tosh (Alison O’Donnell) okay, who has been on the show the whole time.

BBC crime drama Shetland has returned for its ninth season.

What I’m Reading:

I’m reading In The Woods by Tana French. It is a book I ordered at Thriftbooks, an online used bookstore that I’ve mentioned before.

Amazon

Here is a summary of the book:

As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours.

Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret. But when a twelve-year-old girl is found murdered in the same woods, he and Detective Cassie Maddoxโ€”his partner and closest friendโ€”find themselves investigating a case chillingly similar to the previous unsolved mystery. Now, with only snippets of long-buried memories to guide him, Ryan has the chance to uncover both the mystery of the case before him and that of his own shadowy past.

It’s cold, windy, and wet here. I’m staying inside today, where it sounds like a herd of buffalo is running from one end of this house to the other.

I love your kitties, I have four myself, all rescues. They need a new cat tree, would you be willing to share the name of the company where you got yours? Thanks

  8. Daisy will always be a lap sitting snuggler! Those always start early and stay that way, in my experience! Youโ€™ve got a really cute pair there! What entertainment for a cold blustery day when folks are wise to stay home.

  9. The new kittens are adorable, so cute, and they are happy together. Simon seems my type of guy ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope Ivy will adapt and adjust to the new Mamie tenants. There is an Alberta Clipper that’s going to be or may have already started sweeping across the Plains states, the lower Midwest (near the bottom of Lake Michigan) and further east Great Lakes area, along with central and some parts of the southern East Coast with bone chilling temperatures and snow. My part of SE Wisconsin is not in the mix, thank goodness. It’s cold enough as it is, but no snow on the ground. I hope we don’t get snow – NOT a fan!

    1. We had snow till about noon. Didn’t seem to stick, but there’s ice.

Better watch them when you open the front door to retrieve your packages

  14. Annette Tracy says:

Do you think Ivy is wondering what the heck has happened? New house now invaded with little ones! Give her time and she will rule over them. Love the sound of kittens playing. Do they seem to always be together?

  15. “A herd of buffalo”, I love that saying. When Cleatus was just a young cat, she would run through the hall from the bedrooms to the living room, during the middle of the night. I always said one cat sounded like a herd of circus elephants.
I miss that now since she is no longer here. I know you will
enjoy the two little ones while you can Brenda. Cats just are fun to have around the house, and I sure miss mine. Hugs and a Happy New Year you!!!!

    1. Yes, they are fun to watch. They’ve been still for a few minutes, each sitting in a living room window to watch the snow. This will be their first.
