Sunday Snippets 11.26.23
About a week ago, I added the Sundance Now channel to my Amazon video line up. I signed up for the 7 free days.
I knew the channel had mysteries and crime procedural series. And that’s the kind of shows I prefer.
So far I’ve watched “The Vanishing Triangle,” which I thought was very good.
That series is about an investigative journalist named Lisa Wallace. She publishes an article about her mother’s murder, which sparks the disappearance of Amy Reynolds.
Lisa and Detective David Burkley work together to find Amy. Their investigation takes them around Ireland, as more girls go missing.
What I’m Watching:
Now I’m watching “The Secret She Keeps.” The series is set in Sydney. It is about two women from vastly different backgrounds with explosive secrets.
This series is based on a true story that occurred in England in 1994. It is a screen adaptation of Michael Robotham’s best-selling book of the same name.
Robotham’s novel is based on the kidnapping of baby Abbie Humphries in Nottingham, England.
When she was just three hours old, the newborn was stolen from Queen’s Medical Centre hospital. For 17 painful days, her parents Karen and Roger Humphries didn’t know if she was dead or alive.
A woman posed as a nurse and never came back with the baby. Eventually the police located her and the newborn, and the little girl was sent back to her parents.
In the series, Laura Carmichael, who played Lady Edith in Downton Abbey, plays the troubled woman who abducted the baby.
What I’m Reading:
Jojo Harvey is a dead ringer for Jessica Rabbit and the most ferocious literary agent in town.
A former NYPD cop, she now lives in London making million-dollar book deals while trying to make partner at her firm.
Lily Wright is an author who believes in karma, and is waiting for the sky to fall after stealing her former best friend’s man.
Though her first book failed to sell, her life turns upside down when her most recent book becomes a huge bestseller.
Gemma Hogan is an event designer extraordinaire who lost the love of her life and her best friend in one fell swoop.
To make matters worse, her father has just left her mother. While taking care of her mother, she e-mails a close colleague about her frustrations.
The colleague forwards the hilarious e-mails to a famous literary agent named Jojo Harvey. Who just happens to represent her former friend, now enemy, Lily Wright.
Ivy Photo:
And here is today’s token Ivy photo. She is in my office looking out the window.
That was nice of Kendra to bring you a nice Thanksgiving dinner. (How is she feeling?) I love leftovers too. I love not having to cook, and it’s ready in a matter of minutes. We’re still working on some leftovers, but they’re starting to run low. Ivy looks so cute, sitting there, just staring out the window.
Love the Ivy pic! I will look at Sundance – I watch most of my crime dramas on PBS Masterpiece but I am caught up at the moment lol. I love left overs too! I cook large portions so I can freeze the leftovers and always have things to heat up:-)
There’s a handful of leftovers in the refrigerator but not much. I’ve been suffering with a tummy bug that refusing to go away so I’ve been eating very carefully.
What you’re watching and reading is very intriguing to me, Brenda. Thanks for sharing.
Happy Sunday!
Unless I’m eating a frozen microwave dinner I usually have left-overs, especially if I make something in the slow cooker or one of my casserole recipes. Growing up we always had left-overs as my mom had 8 people she had to cook for and you never wanted to have too little made! I love left-overs, all I have to do is heat it up in the microwave and instant dinner! Ivy sure is a big girl! I wonder what she thinks when she’s watching the world go by outside.
what is the name of the book you are reading? it sounds very intriguing. Have a great day!
Sorry. The Other Side Of The Story, Marian Keyes
