This week in Sunday Snippets 4.13.25…

I planted all the plants I bought at Southwoods in containers below the front porch. Thinking I had enough for both sides of the porch, I found I needed more. Isn’t that always how it is? Plus, I need more potting soil.
They say not to fill large pots with soil alone. Throw in the plastic pots the plants are in or whatever else will help fill the pot, and you’ll save on the cost of potting soil. I used to put rocks in the bottom, but I didn’t have any, so the discarded plastic containers went into the pots.
My ankle was hurting more than my knee. But someone had to plant all those plants, and I’m glad it’s done. I still have the other side to plant. I will put pots on the raised brick walls between my yard and porch. Do you ever have enough potting soil?
When I sat down on my garden cart, the lawn man arrived. I stayed outside and worked while he mowed the yard, separated from him and his machinery by the sidewalk.
Oh, how I love the additional cement that was laid! It’s a joy not to step out of my car into dirt or mud and to have a smooth spot for my garbage and recycling containers.
Kasi & I Went To Lunch & Ran Errands:
Kasi and I went to our favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch yesterday. Then she took me to pick up a prescription, and we went to the car wash. My poor old car hadn’t been washed in ages.
I found an online car wash business where you could sign up for a free car wash, so we did that. I let her drive because I hate those floppy washing things in front of my face.
On Wednesday night, Kendra invited me over for pot roast. I always enjoy a meal with Kendra and Marley, as I don’t see Marley as often as I’d like. You know how it is with teenagersโthey’re always busy with something or the other.
I came home with enough leftovers for another meal for Thursday evening.
What I’m Watching:

I’m still watching the original Bosch series. I only have a few seasons left to watch.
Bosch is an American police procedural television series produced by Amazon Studios starring Titus Welliver as Los Angeles Police Department detective Harry Bosch.
The series Bosch is praised for its strong writing, compelling characters, and gritty realism. Many viewers find it one of television’s best and most underrated crime dramas.ย
Bosch is based on books written by Michael Connelly. This is the second time I’m watching the Bosch series.
What I’m Reading:

I’m reading All They Need To Know by Eileen Goudge. I haven’t read any of her books in years. But I recall reading them when I was younger.
On the run from her abusive husband, Kyra Smith hits the road. Destination unknown. She lands in the peaceful California town of Gold Creek with a neglected dog she rescued in tow. Kyra is immediately befriended by an openhearted group of women called the Tattooed Ladies Club. Theyโre there for Kyraโand for each other.
The maternal Frannie is a tattoo artist struggling with a troubled daughter. Suzy is a self-described fashionista grandma bearing a painful estrangement from her son. Then thereโs Jo, whose enviable marriage is coming undone. And bookstore owner Marisol. She longs for the kind of romance she only reads about. For them, and for Kyra, fortunes can change.
Just as Kyra parlays her artistic talents into a new career and finally meets a man she can trust and love, her ex tracks her down. He has a twisted plan to upend everything she now holds dear. Marshaling her renewed power and wisdom, Kyra will stop at nothing to put the past behind her, once and for all, whatever it takes.
Happy Sunday, and happy gardening for those planning to garden today!

Can’t wait til it’s planting time here. Not for another month though. I did buy a hanging basket of pansies at the garden center the other day. Holy moly, have the prices gone up! I also worked in the yard yesterday for a few hours, cutting down perennials and raking out garden beds. Still have more to do but at least it was a start. And felt good to be working outdoors again.
