It’s time for Sunday Snippets 6.1.25, where I catch you up on the happenings of my week.

It has rained a lot. More than usual, I’d say. It hasn’t gotten hot yet, but it will. Accuweather writes that Oklahoma risks drought and record-breaking heat this summer.

Summer officially begins in June. Last year was filled with stifling summer days, and 2024 was the hottest year on record for the U.S. and Oklahoma.

This & That:

Kasi came for lunch yesterday. We drove to a taco truck Greg had told me about. I wasn’t too impressed with the food, though.

I have an appointment with the urogynecologist my doctor wants me to see. But I can’t get in until August 21. I guess she’s pretty popular.

Kendra and her boyfriend are leaving late this week for a trip to New Orleans. She’s still working on her flip house in Sand Springs, just outside Tulsa.

It’s taken her longer than she thought because of unexpected issues. Every day it isn’t sold, it costs her money. There are the materials and labor costs, plus the cost of the house itself.

But I know she won’t put it on the market until she’s satisfied that it’s the best she could do. She hung gorgeous wallpaper in the bathroom. It is a zoo animal print on a black background.

What I’m Watching:

Facebook

The Big Little Lies TV series is based on the novel by Liane Moriarty, one of my most well-loved authors. It has two seasons currently on HBO.

The series I has a stellar cast: Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, Meryl Streep, and Zoรซ Kravitz. The show has won 16 Emmy Award nominations and eight wins, including Outstanding Limited Series.

I’m watching the second season, and it’s one of the best shows I’ve seen. The death of director and executive producer Jean-Marc Vallรฉe in 2021 led to the cancellation of a potential third season of the HBO series.

I read that a third season is possibly in the works. I’m looking forward to seeing what happened with the characters in the intervening years. David E. Kelley is supposedly writing the script while Liane Moriarty writes the book, which must be finished first.

What It’s About:

A murder…A tragic accident…Or is it just parents behaving badly? Whatโ€™s indisputable is that someone is dead.

Madeline is a force to be reckoned with. Sheโ€™s funny, biting, and passionate; she remembers everything and forgives no one. Celeste is the beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stare, but she is paying a price for the illusion of perfection.

New to town, single mom Jane is so young that another mother mistakes her for a nanny. She comes with a mysterious past and a sadness beyond her years. These three women are at different crossroads but will all wind up in the same shocking place.

Big Little Lies is a brilliant story about ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, schoolyard scandals, and the little lies that can turn lethal.

What I’m Reading – My Name Is Anton:

Amazon

The book “My Name Is Anton” by Catherine Ryan Hyde is set in 1965. Life has taken a turn for eighteen-year-old Anton Addison-Rice. Nearly a year after his brother died in a tragic accident, Anton is still woundedโ€•physically and emotionally. Alone for the holidays, he sees his neighbor Edith across the street one evening and realizes sheโ€™s in danger.

Anton is determined to help Edith leave her abusive marriage. He is fifteen years younger than Edith and is frightened about her situation. When she needs a safe place to stay, she lets down her guard, and an unlikely friendship grows over ten days. As Anton falls hopelessly and selflessly in love, Edith fears her husband finding her and Anton getting hurt. She must disappear without telling anyone where sheโ€™s goingโ€•even Anton.

If keeping Edith safe means letting her go, Anton will say goodbye forever. Or so he believes. What would happen, though, if one day their paths should cross again?

I hope you enjoyed catching up on life here on Sunday Snippets 6.1.25. Summer is almost here! And with it comes hot weather, when I’ll want to hover inside where it’s cool.

  1. Your flowers and front of Mamie look absolutely beautiful. Wet and cold in our parts too, our poor flowers I keep moving the pots into any ray of sunshine I can find. I don’t complain either because we know the heat will be here soon enough. Wishing you and the kitties a good week!

  2. Itโ€™s hard to believe itโ€™s June already and you said itโ€™s still cold. I guess enjoy it while you still can, because once it gets hot, youโ€™ll be wishing for a few cooler days. I canโ€™t believe itโ€™s the beginning of hurricane season already! Why does it have to last half the year?! It was nice that you and Kasi got to have lunch together. Sorry the food wasnโ€™t as good as youโ€™d hoped, but at least the company was! I hope Kendra has a nice vacation. It sounds like she deserves it!
