In Sunday Snippets 5.26.24, Kasi came over yesterday and then we went to have lunch. We went to a Mexican restaurant we both like. It’s been a favorite of ours for years.

Kendra couldn’t go with us because she’s busy trying to talk to new carpenters. You may remember that her carpenter was killed while riding his motorcycle a few weeks ago.
I doubt she’ll be able to find one like Gerry. He was one of the great carpenters who had a vision and could build a project into completion with his two hands.
On the way back from the restaurant, we passed Jeanie and some of her friends on the sidewalk. They were on their way to lunch as we were coming home.
I imagine that will be my only outing this weekend. We drove around so I could see a little more of Tulsa housing, as I might be moving in the future.
Ivy:
Here’s a photo of Ivy on the coffee table. She’s probably waiting for someone to put a few treats into her blue and white bowl. You can see a bit of the bowl just behind her.
Doesn’t she have the sweetest face?

What I’m Watching:
I’m watching “Blue Lights” on BritBox via Amazon Prime. This crime drama follows police officers who work in Belfast.

Belfast is a city where being a front line response cop comes with unique pressures and dangers.
What I’m Reading:
I’m reading Mike Omer’s “Please Tell Me.”
After a year in captivity, a kidnapped child escapes. She then reveals horrific truths that lead her psychologist on a race against time.
When eight-year-old Kathy Stone turns up on the side of the road a year after her abduction, the world awaits her harrowing story. But Kathy doesn’t say a word. Traumatized by her ordeal, she doesn’t speak at all, not even to her own parents.
Child therapist Robin Hart is the only one who’s had success connecting with the girl. Robin has been using play therapy to help Kathy process her memories. But as their work continues, Kathy’s playtime takes a grim turn: a doll stabs another doll, a tiny figurine is chained to a plastic toy couch. All of these horrifying moments, enacted within a Victorian doll house. Every session, another toy dies.
But the most disturbing detail? Kathy seems to be playacting real unsolved murders.
Soon Robin wonders if Kathy not only holds the key to the murders of the past but if she knows something about the murders of the future. Can Robin unlock the secrets in Kathy’s brain and stop a serial killer before he strikes again? Or is Robin’s work with Kathy putting her in the killer’s sights?

It sounds like you had a wonderful time with your daughter. I remember you mentioning Kendras carpenter, so very sad.
I hope that you are safe from any storms this weekend.
Loe seeing Ivy!
Omg, I don’t remember reading about Kendra’s carpenter. If I did, I don’t remember. I’m so very sorry to hear about this! I’m glad you had a nice outing with Kasi though. That book sounds interesting and a bit terrifying. Any chance you can email us all an update on your apartment? What’s been fixed? What about mold? Is all your furniture back in place? Any more run ins with the management? Beautiful picture of miss Ivy!
I don’t remember reading anything about the carpenter either. How sad!
Pat has some very good thoughts on buying a condo. We are still visiting Texas for the next few days and it is really heating up! Being retired we have the luxury of going out during the week and not during holidays, which we always take advantage of. Enjoy the weekend everyone! 🇺🇸
I have been mulling over whether to say anything about your possible purchase of a condo. First, I am sure Kendra is fully aware of all the things to research before purchase. Having had a very costly expense with mine, and a management company that was not necessarily concerned with owners issues.
Make sure the reserves are enough to pay for siding, roofing, or any damage that may not be covered by insurance, ask to read the minutes for the last year or two. Get a feel for problems and how they are resolved. How much are the fees raising each year. Remember anything inside the walls is your expense. With careful research you will have a nice home your own. Without, you could be trapped in another nightmare.
Again, no disrespect to Kendra, I am sure she knows all this.
You’ve got to admire the way cats just focus on their immediate needs, not bothering themselves with long term negative possibilities that the rest of us worry about, yet rarely materialize.
Ivy: “Just place the treats in the bowl, mama! And then I’ll take my nap.”
