Today in Sunday Snippets 8.3.25…

It cooled off here for a few days, and rained on Friday. I’m looking forward to fall weather!

This is a cute photo of Daisy and Simon cuddling in Sunday Snippets 8.3.25.

I took this adorable photo of the kittens (who should be a year old this month) on Friday. Those two are snug as two bugs in a rug!

Ivy was napping.

Mindhunter:

I finished watching Mindhunter, which ran two seasons. It was excellent!

A Movie I Watched:

The Equalizer:

The Equalizer movie with Denzel Washington.

I watched The Equalizer with Denzel Washington. There was a TV show with this title in 1985, starring Edward Woodward (now deceased). Washington made a total of three Equalizer movies.

It is about a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him. But he cannot stand idly by when he meets a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters.

What I’m Watching Now:

The Untamed:

In Sunday Snippets 8.3.25, this is Eric Bana in the series Untamed.
Netflix

I watched the first season of Untamed with Eric Bana. Bana was born and raised in Australia. He and his wife currently live in Melbourne.

This one has been high up in the Netflix top 10 chart. “Untamed” was recently at the number one spot on Netflix’s global Top 10 English-language shows chart. It debuted at number one with 24.6 million views, and remained at the top for a second week.

Bana is a terrific actor. He stars as Kyle Turner, the special agent investigating the death of a woman in Yosemite National Park. Turner works in an elite branch of the National Parks Service that works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness.

The investigation sends Turner on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park and in his past. This includes the death of his son, a struggle with alcohol abuse, and a divorce.

Untamed has been renewed for a second season on Netflix. The streaming platform announced the renewal on July 29, 2025. While the first season was initially labeled as a “limited series,” Netflix decided to move forward with a second season due to the show’s popularity and strong performance.

What I’m Reading:

Lisa Jackson's book If She Only Knew>
Amazon

I’ve been reading If She Only Knew by Lisa Jackson.

If She Only Knew introduces the Cahills, a wealthy San Francisco family—rich in money, twisted secrets, and hidden agendas. Now at the center of their tangled world is Marla Cahill—a woman with no memory of who she is, what she’s done, or why she could be the next to die . . .

It begins on a dark stretch of highway in northern California. Caught in a blinding glare of headlights, two vehicles swerve and crash—leaving one woman dead, and another in a coma. When the surviving woman awakens, her memory is gone, and her face has been reconstructed. Her family tells her that her name is Marla Cahill—but they’re all strangers to her.

Recuperating in her isolated San Francisco mansion, Marla waits for something to trigger recognition. Yet the only thing she’s left with is the unshakable feeling that she is not who everyone says she is, and that something is very, very wrong. Marla knows her life isn’t just different—it’s in danger. And as her fear builds, a killer waits for the perfect moment to strike—the moment Marla remembers . . .

The Coffee Bar Question:

Kendra's job building a coffee bar.

I asked Kendra to clarify the cost of the coffee bar she added to a client’s home, which I told you about last week.

The price of the remodel was $20,000. Kendra charged $2000 to do the job, and also paid her helper. It took her about 5-6 days. So that is the answer to the $20,000 question I didn’t have last week.

They are waiting for the shelves to arrive so they can hang them on that blank wall, she told me.

Greg’s Vacation:

Greg, his girlfriend, and their 3-year-old daughter are vacationing in Cancun. I wouldn’t dare travel right now, but then I’m 20 years older than he is and don’t enjoy it. I don’t trust the airlines (look at all the accidents) and the crime.

Couple Hiking in Arkansas:

Kendra and her boyfriend went hiking last week. However, they were here in Oklahoma.

On that very day, a couple in Arkansas was murdered while hiking in Devil’s Den State Park. Scary times!

They arrested a man for the murders mid-haircut in a hair salon in Springdale.

The slain couple had just moved there. They left behind two little girls, 7 and 9, who, news reports said, witnessed what happened.

The man arrested was a fifth-grade school teacher who had taught in Texas, then had two teaching jobs in and around Tulsa. He’d moved to Arkansas to begin a teaching job about 30 miles from where the murders occurred. They have not figured out a motive.

  1. I just finished watching Untamed a couple of weeks ago. The scenery in that show alone is worth the time to watch it, and the story line was interesting. I agree with you about flying but we’re taking a trip to Chicago in Sept; at first we were gonna drive, then take the train, but flying gets us there so much quicker. I’ll pray before I get on the plane that’s for sure!

  2. Oh my goodness, the picture of the kittens is adorable! They are so stinking cute! I love when you post about them. Kendra really did do a nice job on the coffee bar. Can you post another picture after the shelves get installed? 🤞
I hope Greg has fun on his vacation. That’s so sad about that couple! And their poor kids! They will need a lot of therapy I imagine. I pray they will be ok! How can a teacher do that? (Or anyone for that matter!). The school that hired him got lucky he was caught and won’t be putting more innocent children in danger. This world is so crazy! I’m not really afraid to go on vacation, but I am a homebody and so I don’t have that urge to travel. However, when I do, I usually visit family, so I feel pretty safe. Although I could do without all the travel delays and stuff. On our last trip, we had 11 delays and 2 cancelled flights, and ended up finally getting home 48 hours after we should have been home. And even though our flight had some mechanical issues, they coded it as weather, so they didn’t have to give any of us vouchers or pay for hotels. I didn’t much appreciate that! I’ll say I’m glad to be home! I’d rather have company come visit me.

    1. All my family lives right here, so it’s not far to go to visit!

  3. The photo of your kittens is so precious! I can’t believe they’re almost a year old already.

Several of my friends travel regularly (in their 60’s and 70’s). Now that we’re petless, we’ve been taking some weekend trips, but perhaps a plane trip will be in the cards next year. I’d like to visit my cousin and her family in the Tacoma area. I have no problems with flying.

    Happy Sunday!

    1. I guess I prefer my feet on the ground.

  4. The kitties are adorable. Truly calander worthy.

  5. That picture of the kitties is adorable. I agree with you traveling is certainly scary nowadays. Hubby doesn’t want to go anywhere, we might risk a beach trip for our anniversary and my birthday still in the planning stages :}
    This world is painful nowadays.

  6. Brenda, I have a neighbor/friend who does not “do” social media however she has a long list of blogs she enjoys reading. Yours is on her list and has asked me to ask you a question. Recently she spotted your lovely quilt made with scrappy blue squares and would like to know how many squares you used and how big the squares are? Actually, I believe she spotted it quite a while ago because she started collecting fabric when Joann’s was still open. I hope you won’t mind providing that information. Please and thank you. Darlene

    1. I think I used 3-inch cardboard templates. I never made one to size, just stopped when I stopped. Never used a purchased pattern.

      1. Miss Evie says thank you. One more question, please. How many squares across and down. She says she’s very sorry to bother you, but she loves that quilt. Again, thank you.

  7. I always want to stay HOME! Unfortunately, we have to travel on an airplane to visit our only child and grands. Kittens are adorable. How are they around Ms. Ivy? Coffee bar is beautiful. I don’t know if you read the comment I left on your last post but I am still fuming about it. People are mean and we live in scary times. My Dad who never leaves the house has Covid which developed into pneumonia in both lungs. He has been in the hospital for 2 days and will probably come home tomorrow. He is 93 and lives by himself! Anyway, on the flip side of mean people as always EVERYONE at the hospital couldn’t be nicer. So 2 weeks ago my brother and his wife were on a cruise and left the ship and went straight to Dads house for a few days. The took him to get his hair cut. The owner only takes you by appointment and there were the only ones there for 20 minutes. I wonder where Dad could have gotten Covid. I know anywhere and some people don’t get sick just spread it. I have my suspicions. 😡 So be safe all. Have a good week.

    1. I’ll have to go back and see if I remember reading it. I forget about as much as I remember. COVID is always going to be around, I guess. I’ve had it once and sure don’t want it again!

  8. I agree with you. It’s a scary world, and while many would taunt us for not getting out and living without fear anyway, I prefer the safety and serenity of my own home and pets.
Even shopping trips to Walmart can be deadly these days.

    1. I haven’t been inside a Walmart or Target in years. I have everything delivered.

  9. Those kitties are darn cute!!!
