Books:

These are books I’m interested in reading.

The Unraveling Of Maria:

A book called The Unravelling Of Maria.
Amazon

In The Unraveling Of Maria, two lovers are separated by the Iron Curtain. Two women whose paths should never have crossed. A remarkable journey that changes all of their lives.

Maria’s history is a lie. Washed up on the shores of Sweden in 1944, with no memory, she was forced to create her own. Nearly half a century later, she still has no idea of her true identity.
Forest Brother, Jaak, fights for Estonia’s independence, refusing to live under Soviet rule. Neither will he accept the death of his fiancรฉe Maarja, whose ship was sunk as she fled across the Baltic Sea to escape the Soviet invasion.

Angie knows exactly who she is. A person with substance abuse problems. A waste of space. Life is just about getting by, until a chance meeting in Edinburgh’s Cancer Centre is the catalyst for something very different. All of their lives are about to change, but do they have the strength to see it through, to rise above brutality, loss, and fear? Can love, in all of its forms, win through?

Summer Of ’69:

A book called Summer Of '69.
Amazon

In Summer Of ’69, it’s 1969, and for the Levin family, the times are a-changing. Every year, the children have looked forward to spending the summer at their grandmother’s historic home in downtown Nantucket. But like so much else in America, nothing is the same: Blair, the oldest sister, is marooned in Boston, pregnant with twins and unable to travel.

Middle sister Kirby, caught up in the thrilling vortex of civil rights protests and determined to be independent, takes a summer job on Martha’s Vineyard. The only son, Tiger, is an infantry soldier recently deployed to Vietnam. Thirteen-year-old Jessie suddenly feels like an only child, marooned in the house with her out-of-touch grandmother and worried mother, while each hides a troubling secret.

Thank you for sharing all of these great links. I am making a cup of tea and will spend an hour checking them out.
    Have a wonderful day Brenda.

  2. I always enjoy your Tues links. I love the kitchen with the yellow accessories. Did you see the banner she made from material, that goes across the antique window? I love that.

The tamale pie looks really good. Interesting with the crust using masa harina (corn flour). I’ve just made a cornbread topping in the past. I might try this recipe.

  3. Coconut cake! Yum!! And I loves good simmer pot! I had one going all the time last Fall. They make the house smell soooo good!
