  1. Thank you so much for the update, Brenda. Continuing to send healing thoughts their way.

  2. Oh, my, Brenda, how awful for Lisa and Kinzi. I’m glad it wasn’t way worse. People who own Pit Bulls should have to be licensed after taking a course on how to train and handle them. They are not vicious dogs unless not trained properly and strictly. I live with one and thankfully my son-in-law who owns him has educated himself on how to train and handle the dog. Bam, the dog, is never allowed to be outside alone even tho’ our yard is fenced because he has jumped the fence when sighting another dog going by. He has never attacked anyone or another dog, tho’. Anyway, I hope the dogs’ owners realize the seriousness of the dogs’ attack and assume complete responsibility–both legal and monetary.

    1. Training should apply to all dogs. Pit bulls aren’t the only dogs that bite.

  3. Glad Lisa and Kinzi are doing ok. Pit bulls can take an adult down in seconds. A child, cat, small dog on their own would have had zero chance. The dog was acting on instinct. This was 100% preventable and the owners are 100% responsible for this happening and they should consider themselves very lucky that this outcome was not far worse. Sorry to sound so harsh but irresponsible dog owners have zero sympathy from me. I have seen/known too many things happen because of irresponsible dog owners during my lifetime.

  4. Thanks so much for the update . I’ll keep praying for both of them . Years ago when I had 2 cats , every time the little one, Polly went to the vet the other one would hiss at her and be mean to her . We finally figured out it was the smells from the vets office . So when she had to go our vet would only touch her enough for the exam.

  5. Thank you for the update. I know of 2 other people that we attacked by pitfalls in the last month. One friend almost lost his leg. Isn’t there a law about dog attacks? I think if you report them the animal control has to do something. Are the people who own the pit bulls paying your friends medical and vet bills? What are they doing to ensure that these dogs do not harm anyone else.
Have a good day Brenda and be careful!

  6. In the OLD DAYS, we learned that our rights ended where other people were concerned. But now it seems there is no protection really for anyone. It nearly makes your heart stop just reading about the damages done to your friend and her dog!! We SHOULD have the right to be able to walk about unmolested…but not sure anywhere one is totally protected. I personally feel this breed should be outlawed. Mostly because of inept owners…or in some cases, they frankly do not care. We have some huge dogs in this complex, though have not seen pits yet…even though rules say only mid-sized dogs and smaller. Even though…

  7. Thank you for keeping us all updated. I’m glad they are both going to be ok. Things could have gone so much worse. I think I’d be afraid to walk my dog after an experience like that. I like the idea of carrying some kind of spray to protect yourself against an attack… from human or animal. Please let Lisa know we are all thinking of her and her sweet baby.

  8. Oh my how scary for them. Glad this was not worse. Now they need to make sure those dogs are up to date on their shots. Once a dog has the taste of biting other dogs and attacking it is hard to control that in them. I hope the owner can keep them from escaping again and hurting another dog or human. In Illinois after a second attack they make the owners put down the dog. The owner of those dogs too will be open to being sued on his home owners insurance. Glad they are doing better.

    1. My dad said the same thing many years ago. Once they have the taste of blood they will continue to attack.

      1. That’s what we were told, too, when a rescue dog bit one of us. The rescue organization said they had to take that dog back immediately.

Praying for Lisa, Kinzi, and a return to safe dog-walking in your complex!

  9. Glad both Lisa and her fur baby are doing ok. That was a scary episode for sure and either one of them could have been seriously hurt. Hopefully they will both heal quickly.

  10. Poor Kinzi and Lisa! How terrifying that had to have been. And now, both Kinzi and Lisa may be leery of going out for walks in the future. But unless you have fully fenced backyard and check it every time before you let your dog outside, what are dog owners without yards supposed to do? Kinzi may have to wear the cone for weeks, depending on how long it takes for her wounds to be fully healed. Were Kinzi and Lisa tested for rabies? Unless the police or health department received information on the dogs from the owner and confirmed it with the vet who did the vaccinations, there is no way of knowing if they were vaccinated.

  11. I’m so glad they’re doing okay, but this is incredibly sad for all involved.

  12. I’m so glad that they are doing okay and I pray for speedy healing for both. I’m in constant fear of attacks from other dogs and we don’t leave the house without bear spray. We had to use it once. A very frightening experience.

  13. Glad Lisa and Kinzi are on the mend. Such an unfortunate ordeal. You’re just minding your own business and something like this really shakes you to your core. I would take Kaia out in the night and see foxes and in the day we had to watch for hawks. Thankfully no problems with them. It was chasing the squirrels that got her in trouble hurting her legs ending in a trip to the Vet. That dog could run! Thanks for the update and tell Lisa we all wish her and Kinzi well.
