I have an update on the cat named Magnolia, Kendra’s calico rescue. Kendra had to be gone all day yesterday because she has a hectic next couple of months ahead.
One of her projects involves adding a new slab and stem wall (I have no idea what that is) to a Spanish-style home in South Tulsa. She was busy with that house, so the structural company could come in and jackhammer the floor.

So Rhonda and I went over to her house yesterday and spent some time with the kitty so she wouldn’t be alone.

– Warren Buffett
On Monday evening, Kendra brought her home from the vet clinic after they spayed her, and they had watched her for a while.
Once home, she took Maggie into a quiet bedroom. She said that the cat wanted to be right next to her so they could touch. I guess it made her feel safer that way.
The cat named Magnolia has been through a lot in the past few days, and probably for her entire young life. I doubt she’s had many human friends looking out for her.
When Rhonda and I were there, I told Magnolia that she had a wonderful home and would want for nothing. She wanted us to take turns petting her while she lay in the bed that Kendra had bought for her.
Maggie Seemed Very Peaceful:
She didn’t seem afraid of us at all. Maggie slept in her new covered bed and seemed pretty content.
Rhonda said she thinks Maggie has been around people at some point because she’s not afraid of us.
We’ll never know what happened or how she came to live outside. She’s so thin and fragile, and she was in a neighborhood where there are coyotes.

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.”
– Helen Keller
Kendra had to pay the vet clinic $600, but now the cat named Magnolia is all taken care of and can relax in her new home. Her new mama absolutely adores her.
Since there are two chihuahuas and another cat that’s about a year old already living there, Kendra had her in Marley’s room. Marley spends half the week with her dad, and will come back to Kendra’s house after school today.
Kendra said the two dogs put their snouts underneath the door and sniffed. And Millie the cat sits near them and hisses.
Maggie’s Coloring:
I have always thought calico cats are so pretty. Notice how the colors on the back of her head split right down the middle.
One side is orange, and the other is black. It looks like someone drew a straight line down her head and then painted it.
“Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially when the well-being of a person or animal is at stake.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.

She is such a sweet cat, and I’m so glad she’s a part of the family. Maggie won’t have to worry about food, a home, or anything else. Life will be easy for her now.
She came running out to the street to the right person, to someone who is dedicated to her pets.
Kendra and I are both grateful for all the kind comments from you about Magnolia.

Riley’s New Job:
Riley got offered his first job, which he interviewed for last week in a town near Tulsa. He will have a commute, but they said he could work at home part of the time.
He’s very conscientious about not driving and being on his phone. Riley won’t answer or text someone back until he’s stopped somewhere. He’ll be a financial analyst at this company, which is the kind of job he wanted.
Riley’s starting salary is $70,000 a year, which is sure a lot more than I make. He’ll be 22 years old in December. It seems to me to be a good salary for his first job. And he’ll be living at home, so Kendra said he’ll be saving for his first house.
Magnolia’s Story:
I will keep you updated on the story of the cat named Magnolia and how she settles into her new forever home. She is already so loved by all of us!
In the midst of such uncertainty, when the world feels heavy with worry, a small flicker of hope appeared Sunday in the unlikeliest of places. It happened at the very moment two people paused to look at a magnolia tree in someone’s yard on their way to have brunch.
In these difficult times, when people are struggling with higher costs, it might have been easy to walk on past. But compassion doesn’t measure worth by circumstance.
Kendra and Scott bent down, offering a hand. This calico kitten must have sensed safety because she didn’t want them to leave her. Later in the day, she would give birth to stillborn kittens.
This sweet cat, abandoned and voiceless, is a symbol of resilience. It reminds everyone that even in turbulent times, kindness can still ripple outward.
Saving a cat doesn’t change the world—but for this young cat now named Magnolia, it is the world.
“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”
– Edith Wharton

Sometimes animals seem to sense who will care for them. It is a pretty cat and the fur looks very soft…nice to pet no doubt. Glad the vet part came out ok (other than the cost…choke, choke!!)
Kendra had to pay for her two dogs to go to the vet last month and then last week. That cost her $1000! Turned out it was upset stomachs!
Little Maggie is such a sweet, beautiful kitty! She knew Kendra would help her, and love her, and give her a good, safe place to call home. That little green tattoo on her belly means she’s been spayed. My baby girl has that same tattoo too. Congratulations to Riley on his new job! I hope he enjoys it! It’s nice that he can work from home part of the time.
Thanks for telling me about the green tattoo. I didn’t know that.
Maggie’s story just keeps getting better. And grandma babysitting, I love it! Lots of love in store for Maggie! Best wishes to Riley on the new job.
I babysat for two days. Yesterday, Kendra had more help from her kids, who were busy when I stayed there.
I’m not sure if Maggie still has wrap around her arm but after one of our cats went to the vet and had bloodwork, her arm was wrapped too and it blended in and I didn’t realize it was on for a few hours after we got home. It was wrapped so unnecessarily tight and I’m sure our kitty was glad to have it taken off. From then on I made sure that vets office didn’t wrap them so tight and I remove it when we were home. So happy that Maggie has a good home. Most of our cats are rescues too, they make the most loving pets.
Kendra thought the wrapping was too tight too, and she took it off quickly.
The story just gets better…she is beautiful…after recently losing my husband this story just fills my heart with something so touching❤
Yvonne, I’m so sorry for your loss! There are no words! Sending prayers.
I’m so sorry, Yvonne, for your loss…
Happy to hear that this little cat is doing well.
Congratulations to your grandson for his first job!
Thanks, Elizabeth!
This would make a great storyline for a book. Hint, hint!
I’ve got my hands full. Google insists that once you write a post, you have to keep it updated. So that keeps me mighty busy.
My vet always said a stray cat will find you and so Maggie found the ones she knew would take care of her. Bless both of your hearts and her boyfriend too for giving her life. Our work needs kinder people.
I’m now cat-sitting. She threw up this morning and Kendra was worried about leaving her.
Awwww, that poor kitty was in the right place at the right time. So happy she’ll have a happy ending!
She and I are on Marley’s. She holds onto me and seems content.
What a wonderful daughter you have Brenda. She has a lot of responsibilities but was still willing to take in and look after this beautiful cat.
She is the type of person that she wouldn’t have been able to live with herself otherwise.
I love this story. I’ve always had cats in my younger years and they all had a rescue story. I now have two pups which are our world and spoiled rotten and full of fun! I know Magnolia will now have a wonderful life!!!
Mary in Texas
She sure will. Whatever she needs, she will get.
Oh this is such a wonderful story how Magnolia found her new home! She is a cutie and seems like such a love
Congratulations to Riley. He is on his way!
The boy is so smart. He’s not a social person, kind of like me. He prefers his own company. His girlfriend lives in Dallas. He is OCD about things being perfect. Which, I will try to explain to him, will never happen. Perfect doesn’t exist.
This is such a beautiful and moving story. Kendra and Scott appeared at the right place and time in Maggie’s life. Hearing about their compassion has the ripple effect of inspiring others to do good things, too. Heartwarming to know she will be so well cared for and will be able to thrive in her new home.
Best of luck to your grandson in his new job. He sounds like a very responsible and intelligent young man!
I know he goes by those rules of his. I’ve called and texted him when I didn’t know he was driving, and he doesn’t answer.
I love how it’s now time for Maggie to be a baby instead of taking care of them! And I wonder how many people she approached on the street for help before Kendra and Scott responded to her?
I love that! “Now it’s time for Maggie to be a baby instead of taking care of them!”
