This is my honest book review of “No Man’s Land” by David Baldacci. The book was a New York Times bestseller.
No Man’s Land is a 2016 military-thriller novel, the fourth book in the John Puller series. It blends high-stakes investigation, personal drama, and action as it delves into a long-buried family mystery.

Summary:
Jackie Puller vanished 30 years ago from Fort Monroe, Virginia. Her sons, John and Robert Puller, were just boys when their mother walked away from their home. She was never seen again.
In the book, military investigators walk into the hospital room of the Puller brothers’ father, a legendary three-star. He is fast fading away into dementia.
The military investigators drop a bombshell. In their hands, the investigators carried a letter from one of Jackie’s friends. In this letter, she proclaimed that the senior Puller killed his wife all those years ago.
Puller’s father, once believed to be out of town, is now being accused of murder. John Puller decides to dig into the past to uncover the truth, exposing dark family secrets.
John Puller is an army investigator whose accomplishments were chronicled in several previous Baldacci novels. He’s looking for answers about what happened to his mother all those years ago.
Paul Rogers
Around the same time Jackie Puller disappeared, a man named Paul Rogers was also at Fort Monroe. He’s been in prison for the last ten years.
Rogers begins a journey he had been planning for years behind bars. He sets out on a path of revenge that gradually intersects with Puller’s investigation in surprising and dangerous ways.
It’s a journey that will take him across the country, back to where it all began. And that is in a building in Fort Monroe where his brain was tinkered with, and turned him into another man entirely.
Paul Rogers’ time is running out because a clock is ticking in his brain. He is seeking revenge on those who used him like a laboratory rat.
My Review:
The novel addresses a mystery hinted at in the previous books: the disappearance of Puller’s mother. In doing so, Puller is forced to revisit his childhood memories.
Only when Puller accidentally meets and gets to know Rogers does he uncover the horrifying truth behind the family tragedy. It’s a secret the Army has covered up for decades.
John and Robert Puller begin to pull at the strings of what few clues they have. They’re looking for answers and need to find out if Puller Sr. killed their mother.
Baldacci’s pacing keeps the narrative moving with twists, high stakes, and intense confrontations. His books draw you in and hold your attention from beginning to end.
One by one, the writer puts the puzzle pieces together, weaving dramatic, intense characters and explaining the seemingly inexplicable.
David Baldacci’s books are always intriguing and fast-paced, with a strong storyline and a searing plot.
