Today in Sunday Snippets 1.11.26…
As you know, I decorated my tree for winter after taking down all the red-and-white Christmas ornaments and storing them.
I like the twinkling lights and muted colors that, to me, signify the winter months. I’ve got the electric stove on here in the living room, and I am enjoying the heat it gives off. It feels so cozy, with the faux flames and the heat.

Kasi came here yesterday and brought Chinese for lunch. She got enough to make my evening meal, so that was really nice of her.
Reviewing Books
At night, I’ve been reading lots of books to review. Winter seems like the perfect time to curl up to read. It’s a favorite year-round for me.
I reviewed Nobody’s Girl by Virginia Giuffre this past week. Jeffrey Epstein’s important, rich cronies have not yet been revealed, and I wish they’d show their faces. Virginia, now deceased, deserves that much. Her three children deserve that much.
What I’m Watching:
I’m still watching Homeland, with a little less than two more seasons to watch.

What It’s About
Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) returns home following eight years in captivity. CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) thinks he has turned and is connected to a terror plot to be carried out on American soil. She draws him into a dangerous cat-and-mouse game that imperils Americaโs national security.
I recently published a blog post about Netflix shows and movies I watched in 2025.
Daisy:

Here’s a photo I captured of Daisy perched atop my refrigerator. That girl is a climber! As you can see, she’s talking to me, but I don’t know what she’s going on about.

Simon is sitting on my desk.

And here is my serene Ivy Lou.
Books:
Have you read any good books lately? There’s nothing I like better than a stack of books to be read, or books saved on my Kindle.

I published a post about creating small home libraries and book nooks. I love looking at them on Pinterest and dreaming of my own.
What I’m Reading:

Last night I started reading Theo of Golden. It’s a New York Times bestseller.
What It’s About
One spring morning, a stranger arrives in the small southern city of Golden. No one knows where he has come fromโฆor whyโฆ
His name is Theo. And he asks a lot more questions than he answers.
Theo visits the local coffeehouse, where ninety-two pencil portraits hang on the walls, portraits of the people of Golden done by a local artist. He begins purchasing them, one at a time, and returning them to their โrightful owners.โ With each exchange, a story is told, a friendship is born, and a life is altered.
With every page I turn, I wonder why this man in his eighties is buying all these portraits. I figure there’s a mystery to be solved, and that soon it will be revealed.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s installment of Sunday Snippets.

That book sounds interesting. That picture of Daisy cracked me up! She really does look like sheโs talking to you, doesnโt she? Your cats are such cuties. I love hearing about them and their antics and seeing their cute pictures. That was so nice of Kasi to bring enough food so you didnโt have to cook dinner that night! What a nice treat.
Brenda,
For some reason I didn’t receive the Sunday Snippets for 1/11/26. Should I subscribe to your blog again?
I just finished The True True Story of Raja the Gullible. Didn’t like it, don’t recommend it. Now starting two non-fiction books: Writing Creativity and Soul by Sue Monk Kidd (love her!) and a beautiful book full of poems, essays and photography called Quietly Wild by Alix Klingenberg.
Brenda, I hope you’re enjoying Theo of Golden. I just finished it, and I have to say it’s one of my very favorite books.
Your cats are so darned cute. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats (the cats used to be feral city cats but we trapped them, had them spayed/neutered, and now they enjoy indoor life in the country). When we moved from the city to the country, we had to capture them again for the move — I do not let them out in the country because of coyotes, etc. They seem to enjoy this new lifestyle. The dogs are adjusting to the cats being indoor cats — the dogs did try to boss the cats around a bit but we all know how that played out! The cats won!
I am watching Homeland (your review was the impetus for me giving this series a try) and just finished Season 3 (what an ending). Tonight after dinner, I will begin Season 4.
Love the idea of a seasonal tree — I wish I had not packed up my smaller tree because I really do miss the lights at night (and on those gloomy winter days).
Nobody’s Girl is on my To Read list and Theo of Golden sound like it would be a good read as well. I enjoy your book reviews.
Take care, stay warm, and enjoy your furry crew and the twinkling lights.
All three kitties are adorable. So sweet.
I do love my kitty cats!
