Today in Sunday Snippets 2.16.25…
I woke up to snow on the ground. We’ve probably had more snow in the first two months of 2025 than I’ve seen in five years. It’s supposed to get quite cold here this week, colder than usual.
There must have been wind as well because all the furniture on my covered front porch is covered with snow.

The other night, I was lying in bed reading when I heard a fumbling noise by my bed. I looked down, and somehow, Daisy had gotten herself caught up in one of my sneaker slip-ons. I reached down to help her, and she backed herself and the shoe under my bed.
Oh great, I thought: Now, how on earth am I going to get her out of that shoe under the bed?
Luckily, when I got up, I saw that she had gotten herself out of the shoe and dragged the shoe into the closet. Now that I think about it, I recall that Ivy had a thing for shoes.
It’s always something with kittens. If you want constant entertainment and have the patience, adopt two kittens. You will never, ever be bored.
Yesterday morning, Simon acted as mad as a March hare on steroids. He was not still for more than a few seconds. If he could have figured out how to do it, he would have climbed the wall and bounced off the ceiling.
There’s nothing to stop them when they get like this. It’s part of being a kitten learning how to be a cat. A cat alone can be pretty wild, but a kitten… Well, need I say more?
Ivy pulled some pretty outrageous stunts, but I think Simon would give her a run for her money.
Valentine’s Day Alone:
Yes, I celebrated Valentine’s Day alone and enjoyed myself immensely.
I ate what I wanted, consumed a chocolate cupcake, and bought myself a gardening magazine to enjoy and keep for future reference.
I also received my Baker Heirloom Seeds catalog and will be poring over it.
Did you order any seed catalogs this year?
What I’m Watching:
I’m still watching Line Of Duty. What a phenomenal and well-written show! I may even watch it a third time. When I watched it for the first time, I knew it would always be one of my favorite series.
If you’ve never heard of this series, it is about AC-12, a controversial police anti-corruption unit tasked with prosecuting corrupt police officers.
If there’s anything worse than a person on the streets with a gun, it’s possibly a police officer on the streets with a gun.
What I’m Reading:

I’m reading The Crash by Freida McFadden. This writer, a physician specializing in brain injury, improves with every novel she pens. I’m savoring this one.
For my birthday, the girls have ordered another book I want to read: Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister. This one sounds like an edge-of-your-seat kind of book. I know reading mystery/thrillers isn’t for everyone, but I devour this type of book and women’s fiction.
There’s no better gift in the world to me than receiving a book to read.
When I learned to read as a child, the library was like my second home. During the summer months, I rode my bicycle there often and brought home as many books as they’d allow me to check out. It was like a sanctuary for me.

I love to read as well. I would go visit my grandmother for a few weeks in the summer and do exactly what you did. I would get as many books as I could carry and read for hours. I especially love English mysteries now, but any sort of mystery works. My sweet girl, Nikki. loves to sleep on my lap when I read. She is 15 and very spoiled. I travel a lot, and I always get a cat/house sitter. She has never been alone for a night in 15 years!!
Hockey has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat, whether it’s a last-minute goal or a fast-paced breakaway. Finding a reliable way to stream games can be a challenge, but livetv691.me makes it much easier. The platform offers live streams of various sports, including hockey, with high-quality video and an easy-to-use interface. It’s free, which is a big advantage for fans who don’t want to pay for expensive subscriptions. What stands out is the variety of sports covered, from major leagues to international tournaments. The site also provides match schedules, replays, and live chat features, which add to the experience. While ads can sometimes be a minor distraction, the overall convenience makes up for it. For anyone who follows sports regularly, having a platform that offers consistent access to live games is incredibly useful, especially when other options are limited.
Daisy is hilarious! The things she manages to get herself into. Simon too. They really are entertaining. I love hearing stories about all the kitties. I’m sure they keep you on your toes and give you lots of smiles.
I read that this Arctic blast is going across the Plains and the Midwest. Below zero wind chills will be with us all week. 🙁
I really miss having a kitty at times. When I was relaxing this afternoon with a blanket on my lap because I was cold, I missed having a cat curled up next to me. Like you, I could easily have several! Maybe someday I will once again adopt a cat.
Hi Brenda.. I always love hearing about the antics of the kittens! They sure do love to climb.. most cats do! how funny about the shoes too.. I think they love crawling into a dark space.. their little cave. I like how you always tell us what you’re watching on TV. I’ve watched several of what you recommend, and always love them. I’m definitely going to go find Line of Duty since it’s on Amazon. I don’t have Acorn TV so don’t watch most British shows. It’s hard for me to understand them! I’ll be getting that book too. Sounds good. I love thrillers and mysteries. Take care and have a good Sunday! Marilyn
I am glad you enjoyed yourself and treated yourself well on Valentine’s Day. We all should celebrate every day! In Southern Maryland we are having our second significant snow this year with another coming this week. Like your area we haven’t had much snow in the last few years. I have just started watching Lincoln Lawyer and enjoying it. Your kittens and Ivy are your entertainment! Last spring I got my first knock out rose and love it. I hope it makes it through this winter. Have a peaceful and wonderful week everyone!
Brenda, I agree with you that receiving a book for a gift is the best thing ever. My two sons and the wifes, asked me some time ago what I would like for Christmas or a birthday present. My answer was a book or a scented candle. Now I always get books and candles both. They know my favorite authors, so it’s always a book I enjoy reading. You have probably read the saying, A home without books, is just a house, I think it goes something like that anyway,
I agree! Have a happy Sunday, enjoying your “roommates” Sounds like you have a Energizer Bunny in the house, but the kittens are more fun than bunnies, for sure.
Belated Happy Valentine’s Day!! I went to a fabulous concert in a church with hundreds of candles around and while I attended alone, I was surrounded by over 750 other people, all enjoying the music so it was quite wonderful. I’m listening to audiobooks from my library so am happy with that.
I just ran across your page. I love how you put what you are reading and watching! I will definitely keep following!
