Today in Sunday Snippets 3.23.25…

Daisy looking at Simon under the rug

I’ve been thinking about gardening and what I want to plant. I imagine many of you are doing the same. I’ll begin planting herbs and flowers in my pots in a month.

Last week we had such high winds that it blew my backyard shed around. Plastic boxes with lids holding Christmas ornaments blew ornaments all over the yard. Kasi picked them up for me.

Then, it happened again a few days later. That’s Oklahoma weather for you. Plus I’m located on a hill of sorts.

Kendra’s Patio:

Yesterday, I wrote about Kendra’s new patio addition, which is in the process of being built. She sent me a photo she found on Pinterest that is very similar to what hers will look like. But hers will have a fireplace.

What I’m Watching & Have Just Watched:

Amazon Prime Video Series:

Amazon

This Australian series follows the story of a family man who finds the body of a young boy and quickly becomes the prime suspect in his murder.

It emerges pretty early that the boy was his son from an extra-marital affair, which is not quite over. The weapon used was an up-market torch (flashlight) identical to one he owns but can no longer locate. He cannot account for his movements, and his wife has good reason to be suspicious of him.

Netflix Series:

In Sunday Snippets 3.23.25, this is the TV series I recently watched called Are.
Netflix

I watched the Netflix 5-episode series, “The Are Murders,” this past week.

This series is based on the books by Swedish author Viveca Sten. The main character is Hanna Ahlander, who was recently suspended from her job as a Stockholm police officer and is vacationing at her sister’s vacation home in Are.

Then, a young woman goes missing, and Hanna can’t resist getting involved and teaming up with lead investigator Daniel Lindskog.

Netflix Series:

Adolescence graphic for the 4 part series.
Netflix

I watched “Adolescence” on Netflix. When a 13-year-old is accused of the murder of a classmate, his family, therapist, and the detective in charge are all left asking: what really happened?

What I’m Reading:

In Sunday Snippets 3.23.25, I'm currently reading Things We Never Say by Caitlin Weaver.
Amazon

In Things We Never Say, Anna has always been the quiet, soft-spoken mother who kept her head down and secrets close. But when she’s thrown together with Maggie and Rhea on a PTA project, they bond over wine and gossip and slowly share the truths behind their picture-perfect lives.

As a relationship therapist, Maggie struggles with the painful, embarrassing reality of her floundering marriage. Despite her wealthy appearance, Rhea admits her troubled past could resurface and shatter her perfect world. But it’s Anna who harbors the darkest secret, hiding the reality of her home life to protect her husband’s reputation as the school headmaster.

When the three women stumble upon a scandal the school has gone to great lengths to bury, Anna is caught in an impossible dilemma. With the centennial gala approaching, she must decide how far she will go to expose the truth. Because doing so could wreck all of their perfect lives in one instant.

  1. I’m happy for Kendra. That will be a beautiful patio when she’s finished. It would be a lot of fun to sit out there in the morning or evenings. Can’t wait to see the final product.

  2. I’m definitely thinking of spring yard clean-up and planting, though it’s still way too early here in northern IL for either one. I’m itching to get outside and do some work. And to see beautiful pots of flowers and herbs once again.

Kendra’s new patio will be gorgeous. We have a patio on the side of our house, but doesn’t have a roof over it. We have patio furniture and our grill out there. It’s the perfect relaxing spot in the warm weather. I just wish it were more private. Our next door neighbor used to have trees and brush at the edge of his property where his privacy fence separates his yard from our yard and patio, but he cut everything down a couple of years ago because some of the brush was invasive. But now we don’t have any shade or privacy (except for the fence). We did buy one of those big, red tilting umbrellas though, so it helps.

  3. It’s going to be a beautiful space for Kendra. The way of the world nowadays it’s good to stay home and enjoy.

  4. How in the world did Simon manage to get under the rug?!! What a rascal he is! Kendraโ€™s porch is going to be beautiful! Especially with a fireplace! Itโ€™s going to be quite cozy and a very relaxing escape for her. I canโ€™t believe your Christmas decorations got scattered all over your yard, not once, but twice! Wow! Thatโ€™s some kinda wind you got there. Thatโ€™s so sweet of Kasi to pick all that up for you. Iโ€™m looking forward to seeing what you plant this year. Only one more month!

    1. I don’t know how Simon gets under there. It’s a pretty heavy indoor/outdoor rug. He is always surprising me.

  5. The picture of your kittens gave me a smile. Your plans for a garden will come in handy for what I want to do. We are just a little ahead of you here in Ft Worth so I need to get busy.

    1. The kittens make me smile and laugh every day.

    Kendraโ€™s patio will
be beautiful when finished! She will really enjoy it.

I hope your Christmas things werenโ€™t damaged. These winds can be so bad.

The kitties are getting so big. Iโ€™m sure they give you hours of enjoyment.

    1. A bit ago Simon had the zoomies and went so fast you could hardly see him!

  7. Those kittens crack me up! Those winds must have hit your shed on the hill just right to cause that mess. March is a windy month here too. Unfortunately, we have lots of branches to pick up. Have a peaceful Sunday and a good week.

    1. You can clean it up and here come the winds and tosses everything around again.

  8. Bonnie Schulte says:

Cats! Daisy playing peek-a-boo with Simon hiding under the rug is so cute. Love that picture.
Can’t wait to see Kendra’s patio with her fireplace, when she is finished building.
The picture above is sure is pretty.
Have a nice Sunday Brenda. Hugs from snowy WI.

    1. I keep telling myself I should probably tape that rug down. But Simon has such fun underneath it!

  9. Hi Brenda! Have you read the Maxwell book series by M.J.Trow? I am so enjoying the curmudgeonly Maxwell. Interesting to see how his life changes as the series progresses. You might enjoy it. Also there is a new series on Britbox called Ludwig that looks interesting. According to blurb โ€œPuzzle setter John โ€œLudwigโ€ Taylorโ€™s life is upended when his identical twin disappears.โ€ Sounds a bit like The Marlow Mystery Club which I thoroughly enjoyed which also featured a puzzle fitter.

    1. Thanks! I’ll check the books out.

  10. Happy Sunday Brenda!
That patio is beautiful! My husband and I are also DIYers so I appreciate anyone that does it themselves! I’m getting older now and with arthritis and a brand new knee I can’t do all that I use to but I do all that I can.
I’m in the process of deciding what to plant and where this season. My husband gave me a greenhouse for Christmas. It’s a kit so we’ll be setting that up soon too. I’ve wanted one for a very long time!
Hope your weather will be nice to you and you have a great week!
