Today in Sunday Snippets 6.15.25…

Steve came over and brought sandwiches for lunch on Friday. Then Riley and Marley came over that evening, and we had supper together.
Kasi and I went out for lunch on Saturday. I’ve had more company than I’m accustomed to.
What Movies Did I Watch This Week?

The Accountant:
The Accountant 2 was an excellent movie, perhaps better than the first. I understand they’re making it a trilogy, with a third movie in the works.
In The Accountant 2, forensic accountant Christian Wolff collaborates with his estranged but highly lethal brother to track down mysterious assassins. The two are a great combination. Expect a lot of action and suspense.

Plane:
In the movie Plane with Gerard Butler, pilot Brodie Torrance saves passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island. Two passengers died on board.
They survive the landing in a jungle, but that was just the beginning. Dangerous rebels take the passengers hostage. And the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare, an accused murderer who the FBI was transporting.
Women Talking:

I watched a movie called Women Talking, a 2022 thriller, on Prime Video. The movie came about by way of a book written by Miriam Toews.
In a remote Mennonite colony, over a hundred girls and women were knocked unconscious and violated by what many thought were ghosts or demons as punishment for their sins. Their accounts were chalked up to ‘wild female imagination.’
Women Talking is an imagined response to these real events. When the women learn that they were drugged and attacked by men in their community, they hold a secret meeting in a hayloft. They have two days to make a plan before the rapists are bailed out and brought home. Will they dare to escape?
This movie won seven awards, one of which was the 2023 Academy Award for Best Writing.
The TV Series I’m Watching – True Detective:

I’m watching True Detective on HBO. True Detective is an anthology crime drama series on HBO. Each season focuses on a unique murder investigation and the detectives involved, exploring their personal and professional lives alongside the case.
The series is known for its complex narratives, brooding atmosphere, and philosophical undertones. Each season occurs in a different location and features a new set of characters.
The series explores the psychological impact of crime on individuals and the dark secrets revealed during investigations, highlighting the complexities of law enforcement and its effects on society.
The acting is phenomenal, with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. The stark contrast in their characters make it a wonderful watch.
What I’m Reading – Split Second:

I’m reading David Baldacci’s novel Split Second. It’s number one in his King & Maxwell series. I’ve been on a David Baldacci book kick lately. His books are all so good.
In Split Second, Michelle Maxwell has just wrecked her promising career at the Secret Service. Against her instincts, she let a presidential candidate out of sight for the briefest moment, and the man whose safety was her responsibility vanished into thin air.
Sean King knows how the younger agent feels. Eight years earlier, the hard-charging Secret Service agent allowed his attention to be diverted for a split second. And the candidate he was protecting was gunned down before his eyes. Now Michelle and Sean are about to see their destinies converge.
Drawn into a maze of lies, secrets, and deadly coincidences, the two discredited agents uncover a shocking truth: that the separate acts of violence that shattered their lives were a long time in the making—and are a long way from over.

I hope you enjoyed this edition of Sunday Snippets.

Nice to have visitors!! Even ones that bring food!! Funny kitties…looks like they all like about the same spot?
It’s so nice to hear that you have had visitors. Love the pictures of your fur babies!
I just love your sweet kitties! I love how Daisy is hugging Simon while they sleep. So precious! You have had a lot of company, haven’t you? It’s wonderful that you got to spend time with all of them! Some of the things you are watching/reading sound interesting. It’s rare to hear a second movie is better than the first!
We had just watched Accountant 2 this past week, too. I also thought it was very good and even better than the first one. The Baldacchi books sounds great. I somehow have not read anything by him but now will put him on my list of books to try.
Love the pictures of Ivy, Simon and Daisy. So cute to see S&D snuggled together!
I’ve read many of his books. All are written so well and kept my attention from beginning to end.
