In The Love Of Home Files #15, this is the graphic I created for this post

This week in the Love Of Home Files #15, the focus is on Valentine’s Day. It’s basically just a hop, skip, and a jump away now.

And of course there are good recipes to share with family and friends.

Valentine’s Decor In The Entry:

This entryway is fairly bursting with reminders of Valentine’s Day. The red and white decor, including red transfer ware, is cheerful and welcoming to whoever drops by.

Layered Book Table Centerpiece:

I would never have thought to layer books as a base for a table centerpiece, but this is lovely.

The distressed white candle holders balance the size of the white pitcher with greenery and pine cones.

Trio Of Hearts:

Vintage Valentine’s Day chocolate boxes make for a beautiful vignette, along with the elegant metal container they’re resting in.

Valentine Lavender Sachets:

These heart shaped lavender sachets would be a great gift to give someone you love. The lavender inside make them extra special.

You can find the instructions to make them here.

Botanical Imprint Hearts:

You can make these botanical imprint clay heart ornaments using air dry clay, a cookie cutter, and sprigs of dried flowers.

Best Beef Stew:

Damn Delicious created this stew with tender chunks of steak, mushrooms, potatoes, and carrots, simmering in a rich gravy. Great for a cold winter’s night.

Sheet Pan Lasagna:

This sheet pan lasagna takes all the hard work out of making a traditional layered lasagna. Shaken Together Life’s Melissa Riker calls this “layerless lasagna.”

Chocolate Pecan Pie:

A Well Seasoned Kitchen

Lee’s maternal grandmother (Nama) created this pie recipe. Over the years the recipe evolved with input from various family members. Like toasting the pecans and incorporating bourbon.

Lee was inspired by her mother Sallyโ€™s love of cooking and entertaining for friends and family. In fact, Lee held her first dinner party at the age of 16.

  2. Wish there was a nearby restaurant that served the beef stew. It looks like a lot of work for someone who lives alone.

  3. Lovely roundup – the beef stew and sheet pan lasagna look scrumptious and that pie looks deliciously decadent!

  4. I’ve always liked Valentine’s Day ~ a sweet holiday in the middle of winter, with pretty decor (who can resist hearts?) and chocolate! I’ll be digging out my V-day decor next week.

  5. That beef stew looks delicious, yum! With no husband or “partner” in my life, I’m not into Valentine’s Day, but it does give me an excuse to eat a lot of chocolates.

  6. Beautiful…enjoyed it so much ๐Ÿ’•
