In The Love Of Home Files #23, this is the Love Of Home Files #23 graphic I created on Picmonkey.

I’ve found lovely vintage-inspired homes, DIYs, and recipes for you to consider in The Love Of Home Files #23.

Welcome! You know that I love everything about home.

I like nothing better than getting in there and getting things in tip-top shape. And decorating a room, doing crafts and DIYs, and cooking homemade meals.

Colorful Michigan Cottage:

Interior designer Cameron Ruppert seems to have cracked the code on mix-and-match maximalism. She teamed up with a fearless homeowner who believes nothing is too over the top.

In this Michigan new build, the homeowner wanted to blend colorful cottagecore with coastal vibes. It is her self-proclaimed signature more-is-more style.

Ruppert says sometimes magic can happen when you donโ€™t play by the rules.

A Farmhouse By The Water:

This is a farmhouse renovation where literally everything needed work on. The homeowner thought they’d never spend a night in this house by the water.

She said that she is so happy that she stuck with it because it quickly turned into their family’s home away from home.

DIY Teacup Mother’s Day Candle:

Mother’s Day is right around the corner. And I think this DIY candle would delight any mother. Especially if you don’t want to invest in a lot of candle-making supplies.

You can usually pick up teacups from thrift stores and antique malls. Or maybe you already have a few tucked away back in the cabinet.

The total amount spent DIYing this teacup candle is $11.

How To Create One Color Stencil Designs:

This furniture DIY is based on a Restore nightstand set. They were $30 each. The laminate tops had a few dings and scratches to be dealt with. And the drawers needed to be repaired.

Once the nightstands were ready for painting, a raised stencil was used. Then a high gloss topcoat was lightly brushed on the raised stencil.

The end result is nothing short of stunning.

Design A Lily Flower Arrangement:

Stephanie from Celebrated Nest shows you how to design a fresh lily flower arrangement like a pro. As someone who truly loves floral design, she gives her best tips for choosing the perfect lilies.

DIY Shelf To Hide Laundry Hook-ups:

Do you have ugly laundry room plumbing that sticks out of the wall to connect to your washer and dryer?

Diana Marie from Diana Marie Home has an answer for this dilemma. She built a shelf with scrap lumber. Then she added antiques she’d collected related to laundry room decor.

Then she sewed a neutral curtain to hang down from the shelf and cover the ugly hoses.

She coats the shrimp in olive oil and lots of spices and has a flavorful meal in less than 20 minutes.

  2. Wow, lots of good stuff in your post, Brenda! When will I have time to explore it all??

  3. Another blog of good reads. Weather permitting, fingers crossed, our neighbors and I are going to suffer through our annual yard sale Saturday. I donโ€™t go to many anymore. This weekend there was a community sale with food trucks. Tomorrow there is a community sale โ€œsip and shopโ€ with free mamosas. What will they think of next?

  4. I love to see old kitchens that don’t have walls of expected cabinets, but instead have furniture for storage, and tables as islands.
