The Love Of Home Files #9
This week in The Love Of Home Files #9 is holiday decorating in the living room and bedroom. Plus there are vignettes and dessert recipes.
A Neutral Christmas In The Dining Room:
Isn’t this dining room lovely? Even with all the neutrals, it’s clearly a Christmas tableau.
It is feminine and elegant. And it looks like dinner is about to be served here. If I was dining here I would be staring at all the eye candy!
Cozy Christmas Bedroom:
In this bedroom soft colors were used. Soft pale shades of green, blue and cream. It’s a gorgeous bedroom.
Something about how it’s all pulled together is just very arresting.
Christmas Cats:
I just thought these two cats were so cute over at Cuckoo4Design that I just had to show them to you.
The cats don’t look all that excited about Christmas. But then cats can be like that. Stoic and hard to read.
Vintage Coffee Can With Flowers Centerpiece:
This centerpiece/vignette is made up on a vintage coffee can with greenery and flowers. Then there’s a candle and what appears to be velvet pine cones.
It is made even more beautiful by the glow from the candle.
Snow Globe Cake Stand Vignette:
This is a vignette within a vignette. A cake stand holds a house, a Santa, and a Christmas tree under the domed glass lid.
Next to it and stacked on green books is a tabletop tree decorated with pine cones.
Christmas On The Porch:
This is a bright and merry front porch decked out for Christmas. There are small trees and ornaments in the red bucket corralled in a wicker tray.
Then there are mugs of what appears to be cocoa. Maybe it’s a cold night on the porch.
Butter Cookies:
Homemade butter cookies with colorful sprinkles look ready to serve at a party or family gathering.
Hot Chocolate Cupcakes:
The fluffy frosting on these cupcakes actually contains hot chocolate mix and is topped with dehydrated marshmallows.
I’m thinking about baking this recipe.
Soft Almond Sugar Cookies:
These soft almond sugar cookies are piped cookies topped with a confectioner’s sugar glaze and a sprinkle of almonds.
The cats photo is great, I love the “ancestral cat” plates on the wall behind the cats posed on their bistro chairs. I don’t decorate my bedroom for Christmas. The only time I’m in the room is to get dressed/undressed and sleep. This time of year it’s dark outside when I’m sleeping and getting dressed/undressed. The living room, kitchen, dining area and my den/library/office are decorated. Those cookies (and the Hot Chocolate cupcakes – yummmmm – they look scrumptious. The decorated porch looks wonderful (I’m especially fond of red plaids) but it is too cold where I live to be able to use a porch this time of year, and my “porch” is 4′ x 6′, barely enough room for the small Christmas trees I flank the front door with. The neutral dining room is my favorite, so pretty!
I like that cozy bedroom with the blue, green and cream. And the photo of the two cats by the wall of cat plates made me laugh out loud! So adorable.
I just wanted to wish you a happy holiday season and thank you for your cozy little place on the internet.
I’m confused. Where did it say neighbors brought you a poinsettia?
She mentioned it in the email link to this post that she sends whenever she posts.
I love the snow globe cake stand and the vintage coffee can with greenery and flowers. The cookies and cupcakes all sound delicious!
The white dining room reminds me of Jackie Kennedy’s New York dining room. Of course, her dining room was quite large, big enough for a long table with 12-14 chairs. Instead, she used it for many purposes. putting bookshelves and a baby grand piano in one corner, and a sofa and small round dining table at the other end of the room.
Hot chocolate cupcakes?! WOW! Yes, please! I think the vignette under the dome with the house, Santa, and tree is really cute! And I love the cozy feeling you get from the coffee can with greenery, pinecones, and the candle. That just made me smile. That was so nice of you to share your meal with your neighbors and to receive a pointsettia from them. I’m doing a Secret Santa gift exchange, and I was thinking about getting a nice pointsettia plant for it. Are pointsettias pet friendly? I have a dog.
I wouldn’t let my pet around the poinsettia. Somewhat toxic. But I wouldn’t take any chances.
