The Small TV Room Reveal

This small TV room is at the other end of the house, the south-facing room that looks out into the backyard. It is not very big, but it is cozy with comfy chairs.

Here are the two blue slipcovered chairs I ordered from Home Depot. They are roomy and comfortable to sit in. In fact this room seems to be where others tend to want to go to sit and talk or play games.
On Thanksgiving afternoon, Kasi and Andrew played Monopoly back in here.
For a small room, it does a lot. There are three chairs. I already had the mid-century beige chair. It was at my first apartment and got moved to the second apartment. And now it’s here in the corner.
I also ordered this indoor/outdoor rug from Amazon. It’s 6×9 inches and it cost about $80. Indoor/outdoor rugs tend to run pretty cheap. And I think they’re just as beautiful as regular indoor rugs.
Blue Upholstered Bench:

This is the upholstered storage bench I ordered from Wayfair. It serves two purposes in this room. I can put my feet up on it so my ankle doesn’t throb sitting in any of these three chairs. Second, it is where the games and a few quilts are stored.
The blue upholstered storage bench is 40 inches long. You can see it at Wayfair here.
I guess you could say that I went “blue” in this room. Actually, I had ordered the blue and white rug for the living room, but ended up putting the green and cream rug with fern leaves on it in there instead.

I haven’t gone big on artwork for the walls yet. The plaster walls make it harder to put a nail in. And I’m just not in any hurry because I intend to live here forever! That’s hopefully a long time to choose and hang artwork on the walls.
Open Box Sales At Wayfair:
But we added this barn painting I got at Wayfair a few years ago. It was on the sale area of the site called “open box.” You can get some real deals in open box items. They’ve been opened and sent back to Wayfair. Click here to go to their Open Box Deals.
But they are not sold as open box items until they’re thoroughly checked out. I remember that I paid less than $10 for this very large painting.
You can see that there’s not a lot of room to walk around the upholstered storage bench, but no one has had a problem getting around in here.

This room serves quite a few different purposes. First, it where I added a TV, since I didn’t want one in the living room. It’s also a room where I have a baker’s rack for house plants and other decor.
Plus it’s a game room. The top of the upholstered storage bench provides a good level spot to play games on as well.
Over under the window is a little boho-style table with my watering can, and next to it is a quilt and a soft throw for cold winter days.

I have a little bit of Christmas decor on the baker’s rack. I’ve stuck to just putting a few holiday vignettes here and there in this new home Ivy and I now live in.
Speaking of Ivy, she likes to nap on both beds. And she likes to sit on the upholstered storage bench in the living room and look out the window.
The Hanging Stained Glass:

And here’s my thrift store cardinal couple stained glass artwork (paid $4) I got last winter. Kendra hung it so the sun shines right through it.
As I learned, you really don’t need a very big space for a little room that serves so many purposes. Small is cozy, after all.

That is such a cozy room. The windows are gorgeous.
You are such an inspiration for decorating.
Brenda, this looks like such a sweet, cosy room. I can see why everyone likes it.
What a pretty, cozy room! Love the blue chairs.
The little room reminds me of a warm and cozy sun room. Four windows! During the summer the view out of the windows to the backyard I imagine will be beautiful. I think it’s a beautiful room, the colors are calming, soothing, the furniture is cushy and the room feels comfy, cozy, warm and safe. There’s something about such a room that just draws people in, maybe it’s a sort of DNA memory from when humans were living in caves and a fire in an enclosed space was the only thing between them, the weather, and dangerous animals outside. During the cold winters in Wisconsin, my back bedroom, which I use as a den/office/library, is the warmest room in the house when I close the door and in addition to the warm air that flows from the heat register I turn on a small lantern-shaped “fireplace” (faux flames) space heater and the room quickly warms up to 73, which is “toasty” compared to the 68 the rest of the house is at. The room has an old (not smart) TV that I rarely use outside of Christmas time to watch old over the air broadcast movies and Packers season. I’ve got my second laptop back there on a desk that’s too big for the room (but I love it, have had it since 1986), two jam-packed bookcases, a comfy office chair layered with a thick soft throw blanket, a comfy armless upholstered chair that I sit to read in with my feet up on – right now, a small cushy pillow on top of a cardboard box because I can’t find the right size and style of foot stool/foot rest that I actually want to pay for. There are photos of family, friends and my traveling days when I was younger on the bookcases and on the walls. A designer would be horrified, LOL. I think those small rooms are our sanctuaries and people are naturally drawn to them.
Oh! I love it! And I can see why this is where your friends and family tend to go. It’s bright, cozy and welcoming. How lovely to sit with the sun shining in and enjoy a cup of tea. So glad you and Mamie met. I think Mamie needs you as much as you need Mamie. Just perfect.
Beautiful…love all the blues!!
I absolutely love your house Brenda! I am so glad you have settled in a house you love and won’t be troubled by a landlord. It seems that Ivy loves it too.
The Tv room is wonderful, you definitely have a good eye for decorating.
Never thought of putting an outdoor rug inside but it looks great.
I’m so happy here, and so it seems Ivy is as well.
I love what you’ve done in this little room. Very cozy indeed and the rug is beautiful.
Cozy is what I’m always going for.
You just glow with words when you talk about Mamie and settling in. You deserve every second of joy and happiness. Yayyy.
Rosie
I couldn’t have asked for a better old house for me and Ivy.
I love your blue room. It was meant to be, waiting for someone like you to love it, and make it beautiful. Perfection and so very cozy!
Well the floors slant down a bit as you walk toward the middle of the house. But it’s still standing at 103 years old.
So cozy, love your tv room. Great gathering room…your new home is so tranquil, so happy you landed into a peaceful home.. Happy Holiday’s.
Happy Holidays to you too!
I love everything in your room!
My favorite room in the house is also the smallest. Bookcase lined wall, leather reading chair, computer desk, end table and lamp. Perfect!
I originally wanted bookcases in here. But I have a built-in bookcase in my bedroom.
Thank you for sharing. Your tv room is beautiful. I love the barn picture and how appropriate with the denim chairs .
I just felt that the barn painting fit in here.
Blue is my favorite color even though I decorate main rooms in natural colors. This is such a cozy, beautiful room! And the windows and natural light!!! The blue chairs are adorable and that rug is really pretty! I absolutely love it! I’ll be right over. LOL.
Come on! I’ll put on the coffee!
Brenda,
The room is absolutely lovely!!!!! And all those windows! Sigh.
I know! I’ve never had so many windows!
You certainly have used your talents to dress up Mamie. The picture and hanging glass are unusual and make the room happy.
I do think of it as a happy room, with it’s color and house plants and games and all those windows!
Was there a link for the blue Amazon rug? Love to see the rug and link for the one in living room too. Thanks
Sorry, just added the links in the content. I noticed that the blue and white rug is 60% off today for Black Monday, so it’s just under $64!
I want a tv room like this, looks very relaxing and perfect! You have excellent taste and talent!
I just don’t care for the TV in the living room. It would only collect dust. Now it has a dedicated room, and I have mine in the bedroom to watch British TV at night!
What a very cute and cozy room! Your home is really coming together!
Yes, it is! And I love it here.
