Unpacking & Putting Things Away

Oh, the days of unpacking and putting things away are exhausting. Unpack, put someplace, then decide dishes should be on another shelf and take them all out and begin again. Move something to one spot only to figure out you need/want to move it someplace else. (I’m not moving any furniture.)

I’m sure you know the drill. Moving is a major life event and very taxing.

Teri put all those white pitchers above the cabinets

I’ve called another internet company and they will be coming out Friday to take down what AT&T installed and then install their own. Fingers crossed that I get a better internet signal.

I can barely open a browser window or download and upload photos for this site. And that is the pits!

What’s Happening Next:

Kendra ordered a washer and dryer for me while at Lowe’s yesterday. She pretty much goes to Lowe’s every day to pick up supplies for houses projects she’s working on or to order appliances for them.

Tomorrow an electrician Kendra uses is coming out to add one electrical outlet in my bedroom and one in the kitchen so I can put a lamp on the table. I’m using the overhead lights currently and you know how I disdain overhead lights.

So bear with me. One thing and one day at a time. My car is still filled with stuff, just like the porch is. I hope the painters give me fair warning before they come to paint the exterior. Because everything that landed there is still there.

Oh well. It will all work out. I love living in Mamie. Aside from the chaos of moving and boxes and having to have things done, it is very peaceful here. Ivy loves roaming around. She has lots of room to drift from one spot to another and is checking out every nook and cranny.

I’m playing the piano music I haven’t listened to in about a year. I don’t know why I haven’t. Something about the apartment was just not conducive for relaxing and enjoying music. Mostly all the problems I encountered there I suppose.

Walmart Delivery Snafu:

Walmart finally delivered food yesterday. Monday night I gave up on them and went out in the rain in the dark to pick up food. I so seldom drive at night I have to remind myself where the lights are.

There is apparently a glitch in Walmart’s system right now. So no matter what they did or I did, the groceries kept going to the old address. On Monday night I got a text from the driver saying he couldn’t wait any longer and was leaving the groceries. But of course he was at the apartment.

I can’t recall how many phone conversations, locally or nationally, I had with Walmart trying to straighten things out. And just when I thought things were worked out, I’d get an email saying there was an issue and I might not get my order.

Then I’d have to call them again. Because no matter what I did online, it didn’t fix it.

I knew the driver. He’s delivered groceries to me quite a few times. He told me he’d checked before he left to make sure I had moved, but it wouldn’t update in the system.

I rely on this subscription service because I can’t shop for groceries. So now I think/hope things are maybe on the right track. When it’s an internal error there’s not much you can do.

Still so many things to do. Teri came yesterday and helped out a lot more. What a treasure of a friend she is! She said she’d be back today. And Greg is supposed to make his first visit here in a little bit.

I’ll get back with you as soon as I can. Remember the internet problem is still ongoing and I’m doing everything I can to get it sorted out.

  1. I have followed you for a long time and have enjoyed seeing you decorate every new place. I am so looking forward to seeing everything you will do to this new home! Such a cute house with so much potential!

  2. I would stay away from him…It sounds like something is wrong with him…He might be the neighbor from hell…lol…I’m surprised the county did not give him a code violation! That junk can breed rats and roaches!

  3. It’s probably a relief to move away from your upstairs neighbor who blasted his TV all day and night. That might have something to do with your inability to relax at the condo.

  4. I am very much enjoying seeing you settle in. Looking forward to more photos as you are able. I love your style.

I envy you having a sweet cottage thoughtfully updated by Kendra. New appliances will be a blessing. I sure hope the neighbors nextdoor will be decent. Please reconsider area rugs. As one who is a ‘fall risk’ I trip on every single thing on floors. Can’t wait to see more pics of Mamie and Ivy Lou!! I really like the wall and cabinet color👍🏻.

  6. Have always loved your pitchers…looks 😍 beautiful…things are looking up 💕

The boxes themselves I don’t mind. But I can’t get a guest bed put together in that room till the boxes are emptied and out of there.

  8. Peaking at those white pitchers above the cabinets. They look really beautiful.
I find listening to music chaotic if I’m not alone. I must be at peace or alone to listen, otherwise it’s noise to me that adds to the “too much social” type stuff. My husband likes it loud then continues to talk. Ah… no. Makes my head spin. So I get it. I love that Crosley you have and have been eyeing it for myself. I hope you get better service! I’m not of the notion AT&T is tops anyway. Little by little….. Loving the snippets. Welcome home!

Thank you! This service coming out Friday is the service I had to call constantly and my internet went out pretty much every day at both the apartments I lived at. But that’s my only choice. Actually AT&T Fiber was great and never went out. But they don’t have it over here.

  9. It is heartening to hear that you and Ivy are enjoying peacefulness. That bodes well for both of your well being in the embrace of Mamie. Enjoying music and the pleasure of sunlight will be good for you and your plants!

    1. Brenda Pruitt says:

I love the sunlight slanting through the window blinds.

Glad to hear you’re getting things unpacked. Teri is a real jewel. Hard to find friends like that. I started painting my hall wall today so maybe I can stencil tomorrow. Ordered a cute entryway table to put at the end of the hall when I’m finished. Joy, joy, it’s not raining and the sun is out!! Give Ivy kisses😍🤩

  11. Despite all the glitches you’ve described, Mamie looks so great in the snippets of the kitchen. Truly a “cozy little house” already!

    1. Brenda Pruitt says:

      Yes, I truly love Mamie!

  12. Brenda, no reason to apologize for the internet problem or any of the little glitches that happen when moving! Thankfully your daughters and friends are there to help. Things will settle down as time goes along. You are on your way to a beautiful and cozy little house where you and Ivy will be so happy! All good thoughts sent your way, Sherry B

    1. Brenda Pruitt says:

      I know. A step at a time.

  13. Mamie is looking good! So glad you and Ivy are so happy. Looks like you’ve got a lot of countertop in the kitchen. Wish I did. But somehow I manage to cook alright in my small kitchen. Love how the little green and white dishes look in front of your pretty picture. Can’t believe you had to go out in the rain after dark. You be careful!

    1. Brenda Pruitt says:

I haven’t been out at night in years. Seldom happens.
