I thought today would be a good day to revisit good memories; enjoy a blast from the past.
Some of you may remember when I brought Ivy home.
Charlie was still alive back then, and he was enthralled with Ivy from the minute I brought her home. It was October 2018, and Abi had died in May.
I think we both, Charlie and I, were heartbroken. But I had a lot of love to give, so I wanted to adopt a cat. I thought maybe Charlie would like to have a companion.
With weekly acupuncture and other types of care, Charlie made it until June of 2021. I didn’t think I’d ever stop crying, as I was still grieving for Abi. It felt like the world had opened up and I’d fallen into a deep dark hole.
Ivy, suddenly quiet and uncertain, watched me with her big green eyes as I went through the days, grieving my dog babies.
Little Gracie Mae:
In September 2021, I adopted little Gracie. She was white with ginger accents on her feet and behind her ears. Gracie was such a sweet little love.
But I was only to have Gracie for six months before she died in my bedroom. I still have a hard time looking at that spot. And I still have no idea what happened to cause her death. It was quite unexpected.
She was cremated, just like the others, and Kendra brought her home to me where she belonged. I miss that baby girl so very much.
There have been many fun times with my babies. And sad devastation when I lost each one of them.
But I thought you might like to check out a few fun posts from less than 5 years ago when Ivy came to live here.
A Blast From The Past:
Meet Ivy (oh, the first week was a real eye-opener)
Oh those funny posts about Ivy, LOL! The photos of her stretched out on her back throwing zzzzz’s at the ceiling while she’s on Charlie’s pillow top on the sofa – priceless.
The new email alerts look great – very sleek and professional! The early pictures of Ivy are so sweet, especially the one with Charlie, and their paws touching.
Love the idea of trips down memory lane. I can’t recall what year I found you, but you did have both dogs at the time…I also recall some awful female issues you were dealing with. It was a rough go for you…
What great memories! I’ve followed all this time. Not to bring up pain, howeve, did you happen to notice Gracie’s eyes? Dilated differently. Could be a cause???
Love the new email! So happy it is working for you. I concur with the comments above, I think this should be a series. I have been a follower since you first moved into your old place. I remember Abi/Charlie and your beautiful garden, etc. Then Ivy and Gracie. I would love to read more about your quilts and other favorite things you made in the past but have set aside because of life and its challenges.
Have a wonderful day Brenda!
Thanks, Elizabeth! You were such a great friend to help me with this!
Have been with you a very long time and can still remember pictures of your yard in Texas. It was amazing. I always knew you would get another cat after leaving one behind for you ex when you moved to OK. Your pictures are always stunning that you share here.
Yes, I missed Clyde so much. I didn’t want to leave him, but the judge said to “divide” the pets. How can you divide pets? I believe he died in 2015, three years before my ex.
So many wonderful memories with your sweet dogs and cats. I’ve been with you since you moved into the little blue house so I got to know Abi, Charlie, Ivy and Gracie. All precocious and sweet in their own way. All giving you so much love.
Enjoy Miss Ivy Lou and your memories!
Have a great day.
I didn’t realize you’d been with me that long. We’re old friends!
What a great post today, Brenda!
I can’t believe you’ve had Ivy for 5 years! I started following you sometime in those months between Abi and Ivy. I remember you adopting Ivy. She was so little. But when I started following you, you only had Charlie, so sadly, I never got to know your sweet Abi. I wished I’d had. Which brings a suggestion to mind… What do you think about making A Blast From The Past a regular series? You could repost a full blog, or simply talk about it and just add some links, like you did today. I know some of your readers have been with you from the very beginning, but for those of us who haven’t, it’d be a great way to get to know more about you. Maybe your old time followers will enjoy reading some of your older articles again. It can be of your animals, gardens, your blue house, old crafts, old favorite photos you’ve taken, decorations, holidays, etc… whatever you choose to share, I think this would be a great series! I know you lost the first several years you blogged, do to a computer glitch, but maybe you could retell some of them to the best of your memory. Or maybe tell us about the very first blog post you ever wrote and what made you decide to become a blogger. Think about it? 🤞🙏
Sounds like a great idea! I’ll do this. Thanks for suggesting it.
I also think the idea above is a great one 🙂
Me too.
I think that’s a great idea also.
Beautiful pictures and memories. We miss our dog Kaia terribly but when we talk about her shenanigans it always puts a smile on our face! Our friend has a dog that is pure joy and I am always happy to see him along with any other dogs and cats that I see in my travels. Have a great day everyone.
I’m still not to the point where I smile rather than feel sad and cry. Hope to get there soon.
Good memories shared. I remember Abi and Charlie and loved hearing all their sweet stories you shared. I know they loved the life you gave them. Little Grace was such a sweet little girl and I am glad she found you and even though her life was short she was so loved. Now Ivy girl is your sweet companion and we love to hear all her antics. She is certainly a cat with big personality. Enjoy this new week. Happy Mother’s Day early. Hope you will see your sweet daughters this weekend. Hugs. Kris
I’ve been with you, Kris, through the memories of your pets to. How they change and improve our lives!
