Adding To The Dining Table Arrangement
I found myself adding a little something to the dining table arrangement yesterday.
The only thing that bothered me was seeing the big gap between the back of the TV and the wall.
So I figured out a way to hide it.
My quick way of fixing things has always been to just cover it up. Easily but methodically.
Here’s what it looked like before with the gap between the wall and the cupboard.
I added a painting to the cupboard to hide that gap so it wouldn’t be right in front of me when I eat my meals.
Then I layered a cutting board slightly over them both to “marry them.” I’ve talked about doing this before when it comes to decorating.
Marrying Decor:
“Marrying decor objects” is my way to make things look more cohesive.
The black frame of the painting seemed a little stark close to the canvas painting that is not framed.
I felt that the cutting board fixed that. It bridged the gap between them.
I found the image of the vintage child in my scrap box, and I put a little poster glue on the back to adhere it to the cutting board.
Then I added cloth napkins to have them ready when I sit down to eat.
I found the painting with the two urns at Hobby Lobby the other day for half off.
Something about it appealed to me.
Sometimes it just takes a little adjustment to completely alter things.
My aim was to try to cover what was right in my sight, and give the illusion that it isn’t there.
Varied Warm Wood Tones:
I like all the varied wood tones on the shiny top of my dining table. There is a certain warmth to these soft colors.
The dining table is scratched up a bit due to Ivy jumping up there, but I just use the Tibet Almond Stick I order from Amazon to cover the scratches up as best I can.
Furniture gets dinged and scratched. That’s part of the life cycle of things we use on a daily basis.
Wouldn’t these colors be perfect for a fall scene? I wasn’t going for that. It just happened that way.

I love the changes in your decor and I have always loved that print. Have a wonderful weekend Brenda!
The dining table looks great. That was a great way to hide the gap. I love the way you put a picture on the cutting board. Thanks for telling us what you use for scratches on the wood furniture. I’m going to order some.
So nice that things are blooming! So much to see to please your eye and your soul.
Oh, that’s a great solution to conceal the gap. I need to make better use of cutting boards in decorating.
It’s Fri-Yay – enjoy it!!!
Well done! You are such a creative soul,Brenda! I love how you solve problems, big or small.
Hope you and pretty Ivy have a good weekend. Does she like the new table placement?
The colors in some of your art does look “autumnal” but they’re neutral enough to be used all year. I like that wood in more natural finishes has come back into style. I have seen lots of painted wood furniture, but I’ve always been more of a traditionalist in style and I tend toward darker wood finishes. The new art piece in the black frame works well to cover the gap.
I see your echinacea flowers are blooming already, here in southern Ontario they are only just starting to come up! I do love pigeons, they appear to be very gentle, shy birds. They appear in the garden when there are no other birds around.
I love what you have done with your dining table arrangement, I would never have thought of that.
It has been raining all week here so I am holed up in the basement doing a few crafts.
