My Spring Decorated Tree

I decorated my spring tree by adding green ornaments. I’ve seen trees decorated for the seasons with a variety of things. But I just wanted something simple because the lights are the draw for me.
However, the green ornaments blend into the tree so much that you can barely see them. I might have to address that issue.

There are pieces of twine that tie the ornaments on the tree, and I will need to clip them. But I’m waiting on a new pair of scissors to arrive because the others are too dull to use.
Marley brought something over that I needed, and I was having such a hard time tying the twine that she took over tying it. She managed to cut the twine with the dull scissors, then tied the ornaments to the tree.
How is it that I was able to tie ornaments onto the tree just a few months ago? My fingers have gotten so stiff and swollen that I couldn’t manage it. So I was very grateful to her. She’s a good kid.
Dental Visit:
Yesterday morning, I had a dental visit. They gave me a temporary crown and ordered a mouth guard. My teeth are about to put me in the poor house, as my great-grandma used to say.
They were going to put another bridge on the other side of the one that’s there. But I saved about a thousand dollars going with a crown instead. I’ll still have that gap from when I had that tooth pulled a year and a half ago. For now, at least.
I’ve still got a couple of crowns and several fillings that need to be taken care of. The broken tooth had a cavity, so she had to address that first. She said that’s probably why it broke.
Why is it that the United States can pay for a war and give huge tax breaks to billionaires, but not provide health care? It is we, the taxpayers, who are paying for this endless goal of further enriching the rich.

Have you noticed that women’s rights are slowly being eroded and turned back?
Laws are being reshaped to restrict women’s freedoms, silence their voices, and allow abuse without consequence. Women and girls are being failed by the very systems meant to protect them.
Prior to 1974, banks frequently required a husband’s signature when a woman opened a bank account. In some cases, banks refused to allow women to open accounts in their own name.
From the Smithsonian Women’s History Museum:
Before 1974, if you were a single woman, you almost always needed your father, brother, or other male relative to co-sign loans for you, even if you made more money than they did. If you were a married woman, you could not obtain credit cards in your own name. You could only get a card as Mrs. Your Husband’s Name.
And then, no matter how carefully you paid the bills and managed the account, the credit history accrued only to him. As a result, if your husband died or you divorced, it was nearly impossible for you to obtain a loan.
If a couple applied for a mortgage, the bank often ignored the woman’s income in deciding how much they could afford. The bank’s assumption was that if the wife became pregnant, she would leave the workforce and lose her income.
Shockingly, to include the woman’s income in the loan application, some banks required couples to produce “baby letters.” The woman’s doctor had to attest that she’d had a hysterectomy or was on birth control.

Two Men at My Door:
Last Saturday, two Hispanic men knocked on my door. I had the chain attached and talked to them with it engaged. They seemed unable to speak English well. One indicated that he wanted to know if there was a Spanish-speaking person here. I told him no.
Then he asked me if there were any neighbors who spoke Spanish. I said I didn’t know. Then they left, headed to other houses on the street. They didn’t carry Bibles or other literature, so they probably weren’t from a church.
My friend Rhonda said she thought they were ICE agents. I still don’t know who they were here or why they were going door-to-door.
What a world we’re living in right now.
But starting a war and creating chaos will not make the Epstein files go away. Those high-ranking officials and billionaires need to be held accountable.

Sorry about your dental woes and the expense. Even with dental insurance we still have paid a lot out of pocket. I dread when we both go on Medicare and dental isn’t covered. As it is, I have to go to the dentist every 3 months for deep cleanings.
Please don’t answer your door to anyone you don’t know. You should’ve called your local police dept (non-emergency number) to report these men at your door.
Do you have any security cameras? I highly suggest a Ring doorbell or something similar.
I just happened upon someone else who decorated a tree for spring and I thought I’d share a link. https://www.reddit.com/r/femalelivingspace/comments/1rnpi9t/feeling_proud_of_my_springthemed_christmas_tree/
I thought it was just me that noticed rights for women seem to be heading in the wrong direction – backwards. In Texas it sure seems we are going in that direction.
I remember how surprised I was when I found out I could get a house loan on my own. I had been working a few years at the time. It seems funny now but I do worry about my grandnieces losing that right.
When I started working in IT, there were always women but not many in management. That has changed though. I graduated in 1969.
I have a new metal garden buggy with a seat. Well, as soon as I put it together. It’s raining today so I want to put it together so it’s ready to go! I hope to be able roll in the garden areas and pull the weeds that have sprung up like the plague. I got a few flowers yesterday and can’t wait to start planting.
Brenda, I would not open my door to anyone male especially, that I did not know!! I hope they do not come back later. Do you have some cameras up? My daughter (in the midst of all the nasty court stuff), has several and she set it up where they show on my phone too…so I can also look at what is going on there, on 3 sides of her house at least. She also set up a tracker when she is in the car away from home so I can also watch some. We cannot be too careful these days. I have at times opened a window near my front door and spoken to people I did not know. Really do not care if they like it or not. It is the world we live in these days.
I love that you decorate your tree for the different seasons. Green is good for spring. But it would be also really pretty. If you added some pops of color that match whatever flowers you decide to plant this year. So if you were to plant pink and purple and white flowers. Maybe you could add a few decorations in those colors on your tree then your tree will represent what you have going on outside in your garden. I just think that would be kind of cool. I’m sorry about all your dental woes. It’s crazy how much all that costs! I’m glad you speak your mind on your blog. It’s your blog and you should be able to write about whatever you want to write about. I just wish our country wasn’t so divided. United, we stand divided we fall.
I could not disagree with you more Brenda. We have been at war with Iran since 1979. Every president since Reagan, have done nothing. Iran has been a continual threat to the US and in the last few months have murdered more than 35,000 of its own citizens. Are you ok with that? More than half of those women. And what rights have women lost? I can’t think of one right I have lost with this administration. Abortion went back to the states where it should have been from the beginning. My tax dollars were paying for abortions and as a prolife woman, it is very disturbing. But women can still get abortions. And as far as the Epstein files. They are being released. And if this administration, namely Trump, had anything to do with violating under age girls, do you not think Biden/Harris would have released them when they had the opportunity? And yes, illegals need to be deported. Period! Obama was called the deporter in chief, deporting more than Trump has, so far.
Yes, this is a very strange world that we live in! I kind of remember some of the things that women went through. I graduated in 1974. I bought my house (when I was single) in 1986. I was warned by my realtor (a woman) to make sure that I had everything in order as the loan guy wasn’t hip on women buyers. Now it seems like things are going backwards again!
I graduated in 1975.
I remember when my mother’s scissors became dull, she said “they wouldn’t cut warm butter”. I am trying to work in the yard to avoid thinking about what is happening in the world. My stamina is not what it once was and pain in my back and hands require frequent breaks. I worry about my children and grandchildren. I hope I live long enough to see justice for all the evil that has been done. I’m optimistic that will happen even though time is not on my side. I’ll be 80 next month.
In 11 months, on my next birthday, I’ll be 70. And I’m feeling every bit of it!

In Canada we have a government covered dental plan for those that earn under $95,000.00 per year (household income). When I had a checkup and cleaning and X-rays last year the bill was $380.00 but after the government payment deduction I only had to pay $30.00.
That’s wonderful! The last six months of last year, I spent $6000. I’m well on the way to that this year, it looks like. I wouldn’t be so worried if my income from blogging hadn’t been cut in half.
I agree wholeheartedly about the people who had ties to Epstein. Their political affiliation doesn’t matter!
Also, big pharma has a lot of control over health related matters here in the US. Why do you think no cure for cancer has been discovered (even though I believe there has)?
Because if they found a cure, they wouldn’t have all those people with illnesses needing medication all the time. It’s always about money, it seems.
Yep! Do you know how much money Big Pharma makes on chemo and cancer drugs?! Hundreds of BILLIONS! It’s disgusting. They certainly don’t make money off wellness.
Thank you for addressing “current events”, Brenda. I can hardly the things we’re seeing today in America.
Some people get mad at me for talking about it, so I try to limit myself.
Happy Friday Brenda,
I agree with everything you’ve said.
It is quite awful that our country is supposed to be “the most advanced” in the world but we can’t even get healthcare fixed like all the other countries have had for years and years! Moving to Italy, Spain, Portugal or Greece would benefit us all!! It’s humiliating for sure.
Those old, fat men sitting in power feel like they should make decisions for women. Never mind that most of them have paid for their girlfriend abortions! They want us in the kitchen, out of sight and not having an opinion. I say good luck with that idiots!!
Exactly! A bunch of fat old men who should have retired long ago!
