Today in Sunday Snippets 6.8.25…

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much rain. It has rained nearly every day and been nice and cool. Here we are in June, and it’s taken until now to start getting hot outside. I’ve been delighted that the weather hasn’t been too hot to enjoy my front porch.
Movies I’ve Watched Lately:
Lately, I’ve been watching quite a few movies. I’m including the ones I enjoyed here.
The Town:

“The Town” is a 2010 crime thriller movie starring and directed by Ben Affleck. The story follows a group of bank robbers in Charlestown, Boston, led by Doug MacRay. The four have been lifelong friends since childhood.
MacRay (Affleck) is the leader of the heists. He develops romantic feelings for a victim of one of his previous robberies. Claire is the manager of the bank they robbed. Though he begins following her to see what she knows, he falls in love with her. Claire is unlike the other girls he’s dated from his neighborhood. Maybe that is part of the attraction.
I watched this movie on Netflix.
The Brave One:
In The Brave One, Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) is a radio host from a city she loves and has a fiancรฉ she adores. A brutal attack in New York’s Central Park when they’re walking their dog changes her life forever. She’s in a coma for 3 weeks, and her fiancรฉ has died from his injuries. To feel safer and less powerless after the attack, she buys a gun.
Everyone is talking about the street vigilante. But no one knows that that person is Erica. Her world tips sideways, and the dark shadows of her new life deepen and threaten to destroy her.
I watched this movie on Prime Video.

Brooklyn’s Finest:

Brooklyn’s Finest follows three NYPD officers (Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, and Ethan Hawke) as they hurtle toward the same crime scene on one fatal night.
Gere’s character is about to retire. Hawke’s wife is pregnant with twins, and he doesn’t have room for the kids he’s already got. He desperately needs money to buy a bigger house. And the drug money he sees on the job entices him to do something dangerous.
Cheadle has been undercover too long and wants out. Wesley Snipes plays a parolee who becomes friends with Cheadle.
I watched this movie on Prime Video.
Series I’m Watching – C.B. Strike:

War veteran Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott are private investigators in London. Strike was serving in the Special Investigation Branch of the Royal Military Police in the Afghanistan War when he lost half his right leg in a bombing incident.
Though struggling with the psychological and physical toll combat has wrought on him, Cormoran is well-equipped to delve into complex conundrums.
The series is based on the best-selling novels by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling).
I’m watching C.B. Strike on Max/HBO. Max is the streaming service that replaced HBO Max and includes HBO’s programming and content from other Warner Bros. I’ve read several of the C.B. Strike series books.
What I’m Reading – First Family:

David Baldacci’s book First Family is part of his series with the characters King and Maxwell. They are two former Secret Service agents who became private investigators.
A daring kidnapping turns a children’s birthday party at Camp David, the presidential retreat, into a national security nightmare.
Years ago, Sean King saved the First Lady’s husband, then a senator, from political disaster. The First Lady presses Sean and Michelle into searching for her niece, the girl kidnapped from the birthday party.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Sunday Snippets post with my suggestions for movies, TV series, and books.

Here in the Rocky Mountains, where the wind blows every single day,we now have smoke from Canada and California. You canโt see the sun or mountains and breathing is miserable. Looking forward to Fall.
Oh, I’m sorry!
Brenda, how wonderful for you to be able to enjoy sitting on your porch. Hopefully the weather will stay nice enough to enjoy it for a little longer.
We have had a lot of rain but this spring early summer has been so beautiful, cool mornings, low humidity.
I love a good movie, especially the old ones. I will have to check some of these out.
Have a wonderful week!
I’ve been enjoying quite a few movies and series.

Glad you are enjoying your porch! We had been in a drought so the rain is welcome. Just got my gutters cleaned out so I am ready for the summer downpours! I need some dead shrubs cut down in front of the house and a few small boxwood put in their place. I hope we continue to get some rain to help them accumulate before it gets too hot. Enjoy your week!
I have never seen it rain this much.
Iโm so glad youโve been able to sit outside and enjoy your beautiful porch with all those lovely flowers. The movies sound interesting. I donโt have Netflix, but I do have Amazon and Max, so maybe Iโll check those out. Thank you for the recommendations. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
Love to make entertainment suggestions!
You are such an inspiration.. I enjoy your Sunday Snipets!
Oh, I’m glad. Thank you!
Good Sunday Brenda,
it sounds like I’m getting the same weather that you’ve been having but the heat is finally moving into TN. I don’t particularly care for the heat and humidity but what can you do?! I’m just hoping we keep on getting enough rain. The last few years here we’ve had droughts starting in July that’s lasted until Oct. It’s not good for everything to die off and the air be nasty. Plus that heat and humidity doesn’t help arthritis at all!
Hope you can have a nice, quiet Sunday and a beautiful week!
We’re supposed to have a really hot summer. Just hasn’t come on yet.
